Job Description

Provide nursing leadership under the general direction of the Director of Nursing, in the effective delivery of optimal clinical care. Provide opinion & ideas to nursing strategy and to lead the operational implementation of those strategies. Lead initiatives of Nursing in collaboration with the nursing team, other heads of departments, doctors, patients, families and external parties. Engage in systems level thinking and its application to a variety of situations and contexts.
Effectively communicate the company vision, mission & values to the nurse population. Set unit goals and objectives in consultation with the clinical team. Conduct daily/regular patient & staff rounds to promote and maintain healthy customer satisfaction levels. Assess competency mix across organization out of hours & facilitate any allocation changes. Conduct performance evaluation of direct reports. Ensure competency measurement is implemented. Provide leadership in the recuitment, selection, development and retention of nurses in partnership with the nursing team. Ensure that the system clinical policies and procedures are in line, thus guiding nursing practice. Understand medico-legal requirements. Act as mentor, coach & counselor to Nurse Managers. Role model desired leadership and team behaviours. Conduct performance of direct reports. Evaluate the quality and appropriateness of nursing care, including documentation, and make appropriate changes in nursing care delivery and overall organization of the unit/s. Ensure there is robust Workplace Safety & Health culture within the team.
Acute hospital experience preferred At least 2 - 4 years experience in management/leadership in healthcare settting Demonstrate desired Leadership behaviours & alignment with vision, mission & values Experience in Quality and Risk Management Experence in coaching, counselling and manpower planning Exceptional interpersonal skills
