Purpose of the Role

As part of the The Project Engineer (Vehicle) will be responsible for coordinating the design, testing and delivery of new vehicles on the Bukit Panjang Light Transit (BPLRT) enhancement project. As the on-site Project Engineer on a multimillion dollar project, you will collaborate with the Rolling Stock Component (RSC) team as design authority in delivering the new vehicles from design to delivery within the specified contractual key dates. You are the representative for the vehicle portion of the project and will take part in all customer meetings and are expected to interface with the customer on all Rolling Stock related topics.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the design for the 19 new vehicles and the retrofitting of the existing vehicle with focus on customer deliverables. Lead the engineering and installation team on retrofitting of the existing vehicles at site in line with the design and work instructions developed by the Product Engine. Coordinate with the Client, Operator and the design team of the Product Engine. to meet set objectives as well as form part of the project leadership team building a close relationship with key stakeholders on the project.
  • Take part in the Engineering Change Meetings of the Product Engine to ensure that Changes impacting other divisions or the Project System Scope are raised into the Project Level Change Management.
  • Support the System Integration Team as Vehicle Interface Engineer.
  • Monitor and follow-up on all new product concepts with detailed evaluation and risk analysis conducted (by the RSC Team) on all product development and vehicle interfaces to the other systems on the system. Raise impacts to other Project Scope to the RSC Team as well as to the ECT.
  • Support in all internal and external meetings when required and managing the preparation and control of correspondence, including the compilation of internal and external reports and presentations

  • Lead the vehicle related alignment with the customer. This consists of participating in customer meetings where the Rolling Stock Project Engineer will represent the vehicle part of the project, will answer questions and will ensure that aspects within the responsibility of the RSC Team are addressed in quality and time.
  • Lead the customer deliverables for the vehicle which will be prepared by the RSC Team.
  • Support the local team responsible for executing testing and commissioning, Lead specific engineering testing and peculiar failure scenarios.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with 6 years post graduate experience with a minimum of 4 years in Engineering position managing vehicle and interfaces to vehicle related projects through to successful delivery.
  • Knowledge working within the rail industry is essential with experience in vehicle design, functionality and manufacturing, RAMS and Safety is highly advantageous
  • Ability to adapt and understand Green Field or Brown Field environments and associated challenges
  • Proven track record working with internal project teams with strong leadership and communication skills at all levels
  • Demonstrable ability to encourage and facilitate change and continuous improvement initiatives. Results driven approach and an enabler for change to take place.
  • Proven ability to influence, negotiate and build effective relationships with customers and internally across various departments
  • Clear, concise and prompt reporting on project progress and generating reports to demonstrate achievements against objectives
  • A planner able to anticipate issues and proactively manage others to achieve targets
  • Excellent communication skills in English are essential as you must be able to develop and maintain effective relations with key stakeholders
