Background: GAD at GIS has been focusing on genomics of non-human organisms including plant, bacteria, fungi, etc. The works include genome assembly, gene annotation and expression but to date we lac Background: GAD at GIS has been focusing on genomics of non-human organisms including plant, bacteria, fungi, etc. The works include genome assembly, gene annotation and expression but to date we lack experts in functional genomics for these organisms that can further translate our genomic works via gene-editing (eg., CRISPR) and other forms of transformation. We are looking for a plant biologist to empower GAD towards becoming a leader in translational genomics (non-human). : . Decipher genomics, epigenomics and transcriptomics landscapes of natural plants to guide novel cultivation techniques to select for the desired traits Have practical experience in growing plants in soil, sterile culture and plant tissue culture and set up/maintain plant tissue culture, chambers and greenhouse Have expertise in plant genetics and molecular biology, including extraction of DNA, RNA and protein, investigation of gene and protein expression (e.g. genotyping PCR, qPCR, Immunoblot), molecular cloning and plant transgenics transformation via techniques such as CRIPSR gene editing, particle bombardment and agrobacterium-mediated plant transformation . Work closely with other scientists and bioinformaticians to advance research and complete team projects . Participate actively in scientific discussions, present research outcomes and organise outreach programmes in a manner appropriate for the scientific community and the general public . Train and guide junior scientists . Assist in grant proposal writing and application Qualifications: PhDs in Biological Sciences or a related field preferred Experience in plant biology Interest in plant biodiversity and willingness to work with other members in the group . Resourceful and able to work with minimal supervision and independently .
