The Staff Nurse provides direct and indirect effective and safe care to patients in the Urgent Care Centre (UCC) who require prompt medical attention to avoid long-term disability or death. Responsible for the delivery of care utilizing of hospital policies, guidelines and standard of practices. Collaborates with other professional to ensure effective patient care delivery and to attain the desired patient outcomes.1. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESSpecific Management of Carei. Provides competent safe care by applying critical clinical reasoning when delivering nursing care.ii. Demonstrates the ability of decision making based on the acquired knowledge.iii. Performs nursing interventions in accordance with hospital and UCC policies in a safe and timely manner.iv. Assesses, develops, and implements plans based on patients\' physical and psychosocial needs.v. Reviews, revises and documents care plans based on the patient\'s condition.vi. Collaborates closely with healthcare professionals and hospital colleagues for service support.vii. Actively communicates pertinent updates/changes with patients, families and healthcare professionals.viii. Initiates patient education by establishing patient\'s needs.ix. Participates in the care of hospital transfers with proper handover process.x. Performs simple Triage for UCC patients utilizing the Triage protocol and initiate initial nursing care timelyxi. Recognizes and identifies life threatening signs and symptoms of UCC patients and responds with appropriate nursing interventions timely.xii. Assists and supports senior nursing staff in high acuity of trauma and non- trauma patient who requires basic resuscitative care.xiii. Assists and supports in carrying out treatment, procedures and administer of medications during the basic resuscitative work.xiv. Provides basic discharge education in accordance to patient\'s condition and needs.xv. Assists/perform orthopedic castings accordingly to UCC policy.xvi. Responds to UCC code blue activations, ensures appropriate emergency care is delivered on site and safe transfer of patient to UCC.Professional, Legal and Ethical Nursing Practicei. Be aware of and practice in accordance with institutional and national guidelines and policies.ii. Documents and maintains clear, accurate nursing records on a timely manner.iii. Leads and guides junior members of the care team including Enrolled Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and external nursing staff attachments, in the delivery of safe and effective patient care.ii. Constantly applies critical clinical reasoning in the management of care.iii. Identifies lapses in practice and inadequacies in existing guidelines, protocols for discussion and implements solutions for care improvement.iv. Identifies risks to patients and staff and adopts preventive measures to mitigate them.v. Manages material resources by ensuring adequate inventory and supply, minimizing wastage and proper use of equipment and instruments.vi. Undertakes assignments to manage material resources, e.g. in charge of medical equipment\'s readiness, and educate staff on proper use.Professional Developmenti. Actively participates in continuing professional development events to maintains/improves clinical competency.ii. Demonstrates knowledge by applying evidence-based and/or best practices.iii. Actively reflects on individual skill and knowledge and take necessary steps to improve.iv. Contributes to the learning of junior staff through preceptorship.v.
