Job Description


To be part of a dedicated team set up for the following purpose:

  • To augment the risk management for high-risk high value transactions under facilities granted to structured trade finance customers
  • Independent and effective end to end control of all transactions from receipt of transaction application to repayment for accounts admitted into STMO (including transaction reconciliation)
  • Review of all transactions to ensure compliance with terms and conditions stipulated in approved trade structure
  • Post transaction follow-up
  • Monitor portfolio and management of transaction collateral by Structured Trade Middle Office team
  • Escalate breaches (if any) to pre-agreed parties for remedial action
  • To ensure a high and consistent level of service delivery by
  • Early engagement during structuring of facilities to ensure operational viability of proposed facilities
  • Providing effective single point of contact for STMO customers
  • Providing priority transaction processing
Dedicated team acquires familiarity with customers\xe2\x80\x99 trading and operational patterns and will be able to identify deviations therefrom as well as changes in risk profiles.

Main activities / tasks (Roles and Responsibilities):
  • Responsible for portfolio management of collateral risk in commodity financing, reviewing all transactions, drawdown, Purchase and Sale contracts, Import and Export Letter of Credits for self-liquidating deals, insurance, approved structure terms and conditions and ensure they are within approved facility parameters, credit policies and other lending guidelines set out for structured trade and commodity finance
  • Manage specific accounts, assume ownership of all trade transactions under assigned accounts and ensure compliance with approved terms and conditions
  • Support and provide feedback to Global Trade Finance (GTF) Sales team and Relationship Manager (RM) on the operational workability of the monitoring requirement of the proposed structure terms and conditions regulating structured trade transactions
  • Co-ordinate with GTF Sales, RM and Trade Operations in the set up of the structured trade finance facility and standing instructions relating to the structure
  • Input transaction details into transaction monitoring system to monitor and track each company\xe2\x80\x99s structured trade transactions after facility line is implemented
  • Compile / update transaction statistics on commodity products which the bank is financing as required
  • Co-ordinate for all structured trade transactions to be channelled by the customer to various trade operation sections for execution
  • Provide effective single point of contact for structured trade finance customers
  • Provide end to end review, monitoring and manage execution, co-ordination of middle office activities for close control of transactions from receipt of transaction application to timely repayment
  • Assess the reasonableness of transaction terms and value vis-\xc3\xa0-vis the prevailing market price and practices relying on available pricing source
  • Perform due diligence through screening/ reviewing and monitoring to ensure transactions conform with approved facility terms and conditions and escalate transaction/ facility deviations for follow-up remedial action and approval (make recommendation and resolution on the trade deviations and/ or exceptions when required)
  • Perform Mark-to-Market valuation and monitoring of security margin requirements with timely alert to related authority to any deterioration in the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s credit risk position by reacting to facility excesses, collateral shortfalls, changes in trading patterns and deviations or adverse transactional developments etc
  • Take custody, check/ verify title or other documents such as warehouse receipts, warrants, Banker\xe2\x80\x99s Guarantee etc to ensure compliance with facility structure requirements
  • Post transaction follow-up for timely receipt of collaterals such as with customer for outstanding documents, conditions, etc. and escalate breach to relevant authority for remediate action/ approval
  • General

  • Institute continuous process improvements by identifying suitable areas for improvement to increase productivity
  • Adhere to Service Level Agreement (SLA), Procedures, Risk / Compliance Policies and Guidelines
  • Participate / support in Projects
  • Perform other tasks as may be assigned by Supervisor
Qualifications

Qualifications
  • Knowledge of trade finance from end to end with strong risk awareness, good written and verbal communication skills, strategic in planning and organization, good interpersonal and people management skills.
  • Analytical and takes broad perspective in evaluating / providing solutions.
  • At least 7 to 8 years of Middle Office experience with commodities trade
  • Meticulous with a high degree of integrity, self-motivated, resilient and able to cope with pressure.
  • Works well with a team.
