You will be part of a team of dedicated engineers that demonstrate superior technical competency in ensuring system availability, performance and security. You will be maintaining and troubleshooting the infrastructure and systems for a mission-critical Command and Control (C2) system that Thales have developed for a government agency.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the conditions of the C2 system to ensure they are operational
  • Perform verification and validation of the system, security and software patches at the Integration Validation Verification Qualification (IVVQ) platform and production platform
  • Perform scheduled system and security patching, and software deployment that includes the administration, configuration management and roll out of software upgrades
  • Troubleshoot and isolate defects, including defects caused by failure of hardware, operating system, software or any Authority Furnished Equipment (AFE) interfaced to the system
  • Rectify defects related to the software or operating system. In cases where the defects cannot be rectified, to propose and implement workaround software or system solutions to alleviate the defect
  • Identify and liaise with the original equipment vendor, or other Authority's maintenance contractors to remedy the defect in the software of the system
  • Maintain records of all defects, including defects proven to be due to the hardware, operating system, open-source software COTS software, or any AFE interfacing with the system
  • Ensure completeness of and to upkeep all related baseline documents of the software and operating system
  • Ensure all documents, software and operating system shall be controlled in accordance with the guidelines in the approved configuration management plan, for example proper hardware and software configuration control over any activities e.g. defect rectification and software upgrading
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology / Information Systems / Business IT or its equivalent
  • Prior working experience in Linux administration is a must, minimum 1-2 years of experience
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in supporting mission critical systems with very stringent SLA e.g. 99.9%
  • Well-versed in IT Service Management (ITSM) standards, processes, guidelines and best practices
  • Prior working experience in Windows Server, VMware, HyperV, mySQL, PostgreSQL or Nginx
  • Knowledge of open-source software such as Kubernetes, Docker, websphere, MQTT, MinIO S3, Elasticsearch, ZooKeeper and Spark
  • Knowledge of network switching and routing technologies
  • Able to understand the system and architecture
  • Able to understand the user operations environment
  • Willingness to pick up new technologies
  • Able to commit to rotating shift of 8 hours per shift for the initial 6 - 9 months, and on 24x7 standby after the initial 6 - 9 months
  • Able to cope in a highly pressured fast-paced environment
  • Customer orientated with high level of service attitude
  • Good listening and analytical skills
  • Team player, and also able to work independently and with little supervision
  • Able to thrive in a dynamic environment
