Job Description


Role:

  • Superintend all technical and safety matters concerning Company vessels and implement the Company\'s technical and safety policies on these vessels.
  • Execute repair, maintenance, and servicing of vessels according to the instructions of the Technical Manager.
  • Conduct negotiations with Class Surveyors regarding onboard surveys and report to the Technical Manager.
  • Advise the Master and Chief Engineer on planned maintenance and maintenance work to be performed by the ship\'s staff and coordinate these activities.
  • Inspect vessel\'s machinery spaces for cleanliness and monitor the progress of maintenance carried out by the ship\'s staff.
  • Perform damage surveys on vessels and complete necessary costings, reports, accounts, abstracts, etc.
  • Travel to ports as instructed by the Technical Manager to supervise repairs and restoration of the Company\'s vessels and equipment.
  • Prepare proposals for compliance with new regulations and seek approval from Regulatory Authorities or Recognised Organizations.
  • Ensure vessels meet regulatory compliance as per the above.
  • Act as liaison officer and trainer for Cadet officers from Singapore Polytechnic.
  • While visiting a vessel or during dry-docking, handle:
  • All local technical matters.
  • All matters related to repairs, servicing, sailing of the vessel, and scheduling for prompt dispatch.
  • Quick dispatch of service instructions from the ship to the relevant office department or agents.
  • Conduct a complete general inspection of the vessel and report to the Technical Manager upon return.
  • Maintain safety equipment to meet legislative requirements and Company standards onboard vessels.
  • Submit for approval and monitor budgets for expenditure responsibilities, reporting any variances.
  • Report relevant information to the Technical Manager regarding sea-going personnel.
Requirements:
  • COC Class 1 or 2 holders with sailing experience on oil tankers.
  • Minimum of 1 year\'s experience as a Technical Superintendent in ship management operations.
  • Foreign-going Chief Engineers with sea experience an advantage.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with good organizational skills.
  • Analytical, independent, results-oriented, resourceful, and proactive.
