As part of the Technology Legal Practice Group you will provide legal coverage across all lines of businesses (LOBs) in the areas of Intellectual Property, Cyber, Data Privacy, Outsourcing, Technology Controls, Technology Transactions, Information Security and Emerging Technologies. The APAC Technology & IP Legal team rolls up into Corporate Law via the Technology Legal Practice Group, with accountability locally to the APAC General Counsel.

Job Summary:

You will be responsible for technology transactional work, primarily for wholesale businesses and corporate functions, and will handle the structuring, drafting, negotiation and analysis of agreements for the acquisition of global and domestic technology products and services. In addition, you will be supporting regulatory and advisory work across APAC with respect to outsourcing, offshoring, cloud, inter-affiliate services, and other technology-related issues.

Job Responsibilities:
  • You will review, interpret and negotiate agreements with suppliers, advising clients and partners on rights and responsibilities related to those agreements, including compliance with JPMorgan Chase policies and regulatory requirements
  • You will manage end-to-end negotiations, and navigate internal processes and coordination between the business, Legal, and other subject matter experts to reach timely and successful execution of agreements
  • You will interpret contractual requirements based on information provided by internal business partners and analyze legacy legal documents for conformance to the firm\'s current policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
  • You will negotiate standard and customized contracts in order to minimize the risk to the business through principled adherence to firm policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • You will serve as trusted advisor to internal clients and business partners
  • Help develop and enhance legal knowledge management training materials and procedures
  • You and your team will provide legal research on technology, intellectual property and contractual issues, as needed

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills:
  • Bachelors degree in Law with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience some of which should be at a multinational law firm
  • Experience required in negotiating contracts for technology/IP transactions with third party providers (e.g. software licensing/support, software as a service, outsourcing (including cloud), market data, consulting, professional and other services agreements)
  • Sound knowledge of intellectual property, outsourcing, offshoring, software licensing, privacy and related regulatory and risks environments with a good understanding and familiarity with current legal and regulatory requirements relating to some or all of technology risk, outsourcing, offshoring, intellectual property, and related legal and regulatory environments
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to distill large bodies of information into key messages for business stakeholders
  • Ability to effectively partner with all levels across a diverse set of functions, locations and business
  • Effective interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Proficiency in Mandarin due to regional coverage that includes China
