Job Description

  • Min 12 years of hands-on experience in a consulting and/or Technology Risk Management role gained with any of the following sectors: fintech start-ups, payments, e-commerce, banking, FinTech, consulting or Big 4 IT consulting
  • Prior consulting experience for Operational risk aspects of Technology Risk Management including Information Security, Data Privacy, IT Audit, or Third-party Risk
  • Experience in Operational Risk Management including Business Continuity, Internal Audit, Risk Management
Our client is a global payment platform connecting banks. It is formed by 3 renowned brand names in the FI industry. The firm has developed an open industry platform to reimagine and accelerate value movements for payments, trade and foreign exchange settlement in a new digital era.Designed as a global shared ledger, the firm aims to disrupt the traditional cross-border payment by leveraging on blockchain technology to reduce current frictions and latency, minimizing post transaction exception handling and reconciliation activities.Key distinguishing features are around privacy solution, complete decentralized hosting and consensus efficiency - providing a commercial scalability which enables it to be a platform of choice for hosting multiple CBDCs and commercial bank digital currencies.To encourage broad participation across the banking industry, the firm will be actively engaging leading banks to join the platform to establish the scale required to benefit the industry.There is now an opening for an experienced Technology Risk Lead that wants to be part of our journey. This role is newly created and will report to the CTO and work closely with the Risk Head. This is a line 1 defence role tasked to also cover IT IA/internal control functions in a fast growing environment.Role requirements
  • Build out of the Enterprise Risk Framework by incorporating the Technology Risk framework within the ERMF, as appropriate for a blockchain-based platform.
  • Conduct operational and technology risk assessments, address operational and technology risk issues, give recommendations and support on remediation activities. In other words, you must be conversant and comfortable with the confluence of Operational Risk and Technology.
Responsibilities
  • Advise on the setup of Technology Risk Management Framework including program, policies, procedures and internal controls to reduce operational and technology risk, which are in line with the policies of the firm and, in general, aligned to best practices (ISO and MAS TRM Guidelines).
  • Initiate Technology Risk Register and Technology Process Maps, co-creating them with the First Line of Defence Technology team.
  • Facilitate and coordinate a cadence of regular operational and technology risk self-assessment carried out by business functions.
  • Assess the current risk control structures, address any weaknesses and produce reports for senior management
  • Advise the CRO on any operational risks that are encountered and the suggested course of action to address these risks
  • Assist in developing and monitoring key risk indicators and assurance tools to determine their effectiveness and for ongoing improvement
Skills and Experience
  • Min 12 to 15 years of hands-on experience in a consulting and/or Technology Risk Management role for a financial service organisation, preferably in a fintech start-up environment.
  • Technology risk or Candidates can come from payments, e-commerce, banking, FinTech, consulting (Big 4, if they are quick to make the transition)
  • Prior consulting experience for Operational risk aspects of Technology Risk Management including Information Security, Data Privacy, IT Audit, or Third-party Risk
  • Experience in Operational Risk Management including Business Continuity, Internal Audit, Risk Management
  • Knowledge of and experience with Cloud Security, Blockchain and Key Management and Cybersecurity (all are not mandatory, a few are acceptable).
  • Good to have: Operational risk and/or technology risk related certifications/qualifications (CISA, CISM, CISSP, CCSP, CIPP, CIPM, etc)
  • Understand nodes and key management protocol.
  • Understand the risk culture, and has ability to problem solve and be persistent.
  • Familiar with the Financial Industries' complex international requirements.
  • Solution-driven: Practical and resourceful.
  • Hands-on; willing and able to assist with ad-hoc requests from other teams.
  • Principled yet open-minded, able to consider business needs, without sacrificing compliance/ regulatory considerations.
  • Is focused on attention to detail
  • Effective communicator combined with honesty and ethical behaviour.
  • Strong audit/control/risk acumen
  • Able to thrive in a newly created role
