Job Description

What a Test Engineer does at HP:

• Design MTS Test Tools that integrate the customer requirements along with the manufacturing considerations for R&D/proto line with the intent to transfer to a high-volume manufacturing line.
• Designs components/subsystems using CAD
• Partner across the R&D team to develop and execute test plans for designs, including validation of tolerances, form/fit/function, shock and vibration, safety, reliability, thermal generation, and system power measurements.
• Integrates mechanical design requirements with material parameters and process requirements.
• Develops relationships with both internal and outsourced development partners for mechanical and electrical hardware design and replication.
• Own components of an overall product through the development process including idea conception through prototyping and into production using HP’s product development processes.
• Interface with HP teams in different geographical locations as needed during the design and development process. Teamwork and ability to collaborate and communicate ideas is critical.
• Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members.

Individuals who will do well in this role usually posses:

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Typically 4-6 years experience.
• Using testing tools and software packages to automate test processes.
• Experience or understanding of mechanical engineering & design tools and software packages.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of design for electro-mechanical components, electronic enclosures, mechanical assemblies, structural elements, fluid system, optical components
• Understanding of joining methods and mechanical properties of materials
• Willingness to work hands-on to integrate tooling, materials, and processing parameters to deliver quality products.
• Proven ability to work as part of a team.
