SUMMARY

This is a new headcount due to business expansion. The successful candidate will support the trading of various bulk and bagged food ingredients, energy and packaging products across the Asia region. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate the capacity to identify and capture trading opportunities, build valuable relationships and solve problems. Over time the person will gain experience in various areas such as shipping operations, trade finance, derivatives risk management and bulk/bagged products trading. The candidate may also get the opportunity to spend time in our overseas offices, linking in with our business in Asia and the rest of the world.

THE ROLE

Work with the commercial teams to identify and develop opportunities in regional flows of bagged and bulk products. In the long run, you shall grow into a well-rounded front desk role and be able to support the growth of commercial trading activities in our bulk sugar and food products desk while building new relationships with existing or potential partners in Asia. In the first 18-24 months of the role, you will support the front desk while developing the necessary skills and experiences in shipping operations, analysis and trade finance. During the course of this training period, you will spend some time rotating on the various desks and also handle the following responsibilities: Develop new product knowledge through analysis of data and research into regulation.
Identifying and mapping supply chains of these products in the region and beyond (if applicable) and developing commercial opportunities in them.
Perform market research of trade players and competitor analysis to help us understand who is making money and how.
Support commercial team in initiating the business strategy with contact lists, credit papers, new product proposals.
Prepare internal business strategy presentations / business proposals for internal stakeholders supported with robust data and information through above research.
Prepare presentation material of ongoing business updates for management meetings.
Provide day-to-day cover to main shipping operator in carrying out post trade execution activities such as preparation of shipping documentation, creation of shipment system entries, uploading of documents to payment collections and related trade financing documentation work.
Support trading team in preparation of customer due diligence material and credit papers for assessing counterparty trading risk.
Support trade finance team in processing of existing business flows of payables/receivables and loan management.
Comply with any reasonable instruction issued by your Manager. Changes in the business may occasionally require alterations in this job description and these will be agreed with the post holder as appropriate.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelors\xe2\x80\x99 Degree
Some good experience in visualisation tools, like PowerBI, definitely Powerpoint
Experience in international import/export trade and shipping terms would be useful but not essential.
Ability to demonstrate initiative
Enthusiastic and possess commercial interest in soft commodity sector.
