Job Summary:

Responsible for underwriting a complex book of General Casualty business mainly focusing on North Asia portfolio, in accordance with projected profitability, GWP, and expense goals. Administers and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, rating rules and models.

Job Duties and Competencies:

\xc2\xb7 Underwriting functions including Direct Insurance and/or Facultative Reinsurance underwriting submission review, pricing analysis, setting of terms and conditions, and quote/binder/invoice authorizations.

\xc2\xb7 Execute approved General Casualty business plan and underwriting guidelines.

\xc2\xb7 Set appropriate terms and conditions following the Company\'s business strategy to quote selected risks.

\xc2\xb7 Exercise proper underwriting pricing and discipline to meet profitability goals, comply with underwriting guidelines, systems, and procedures.

\xc2\xb7 Maintain underwriting files in an orderly manner and in accordance with underwriting guidelines, including maintenance of all reporting systems for submissions and bound accounts, rate change modelling, bound account listing, submission log and reports as may be developed.

\xc2\xb7 Conduct pre-quote and mid-term underwriting audits as needed.

\xc2\xb7 Build and maintain good working relationship with intermediaries.

\xc2\xb7 Liaise with distribution, internal auditors, Claims, Actuarial, Accounting, IT and Legal departments as appropriate.

\xc2\xb7 Business travel may be required.

Essential Requirements:

\xc2\xb7 College degree/ Diploma required.

\xc2\xb7 At least 1-3 years of underwriting experience in the Commercial General Insurance sector, preferably with a core focus in the Casualty class of business.

\xc2\xb7 The candidate needs to have strong fundamentals in underwriting principles, pricing, and knowledge of policy wordings.

\xc2\xb7 The ideal candidate will have strong market knowledge and established relationships with intermediaries.

\xc2\xb7 Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize work; effectively resolve conflict among priorities.

\xc2\xb7 Maintains a high level of professionalism, integrity, and trust.

\xc2\xb7 Strong marketing, negotiation, and presentation skills

\xc2\xb7 Interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a team.

\xc2\xb7 Strong verbal and written communication skills.
