The Group is driving an exciting rejuvenation plan at Mandai Wildlife Reserve, adjacent to Singapore\'s Central Catchment Nature Reserve, that will integrate five wildlife parks with distinctive nature-based experiences, green public spaces and an eco-friendly resort.Mandai Wildlife Group advocates for biodiversity, contributes leading wildlife research, develops innovative solutions to promote living sustainably, and collaborates with conservation partners in Singapore and Southeast Asia.The Group provides funding and in-kind support to Mandai Nature for conservation work across Southeast Asia.Mandai X is the growth accelerator and venture building arm of Mandai Wildlife Group that sparks, catalyses and accelerates innovative ventures in completely new domains that drive growth and impact at scale.JOB PURPOSEThe veterinary pathology intern works in the veterinary team of MWG to primarily assist the pathologists in clinical and anatomical pathology procedures including necropsies and tissue biopsy services on MWG\' collection as well as native wildlife .MAIN DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with and assist pathologists in providing necropsy and biopsy services of a highly diverse range of animal species i.e., mammals (incl. mega herbivores), birds, reptiles, fish, amphibians and invertebrates at Mandai Wildlife Reserves
  • Assist and gain proficiency in performing gross necropsies, sample collection for histopathology, biobanking and ancillary tests, data analysis and report writing
  • Assist and carry out routine histopathology processing, including trimming, know-how of equipment operation and sample storage
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment in necropsy facilities
  • Prepare and maintain required records with accuracy and professionalism
  • Work with and assist veterinarians and pathologists in disease outbreak investigations to diagnose disease and formulate appropriate management strategies
  • Support the veterinary team in overall laboratory diagnosis of disease and participate in daily case rounds and case discussions
  • Support conservation programs and other research efforts by collecting samples and by gathering and submitting data as appropriate.
  • Assist in preparing protocols, reports and presentations for publication or delivery at both professional and public forums.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Internationally recognised degree in Veterinary Medicine
  • Veterinary pathology or laboratory experience is highly advantageous
  • 1-2 years of experience in clinical practice (small/mixed/large) will be useful
  • Sound knowledge of veterinary medical and pathology principles
  • Able to work in a multi-culture and diverse environment
  • Excellent verbal and written English
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and occasional after-hour assignments.
  • Must demonstrate initiative and an open mind to wildlife care and conservation
