You will spend the majority of your time managing the portfolio, liaising with Clients, Cedants, Reinsurers, contributing to marketing and business development activities and providing technical knowledge and expertise to the team. You will deal with customers and third parties on a one to one basis, although you will also work with other colleagues and be part of a team. You will use your strong strategic thinking, planning and relationship management skills to take a strategic view across and make commercial decisions.Job Duties:\xc2\xb7 Leading the development and agreement of strategies for the Asia property portfolio, agreeing the associated risk appetite, underwriting philosophy and pricing strategy, in order to achieve the agreed business strategy and targets\xc2\xb7 Managing the performance of the allocated portfolios through compliance controls, accumulation monitoring, performance monitoring, cycle management and portfolio forecasting, to ensure agreed targets and standards are met\xc2\xb7 Ensuring the long-term development of allocated portfolios through the management of product development, based on portfolio performance, market intelligence, R&D insight, legal developments and emerging risks\xc2\xb7 Liaising with Reinsurers as appropriate to achieve the desired levels of cover of facultative reinsurance as and when required and within company guidelines and authority\xc2\xb7 Actively contributing to the development of segment and local customer propositions, and associated sales planning and account development, bringing knowledge and insight of the market and its risks, proactively identifying opportunities to increase penetration of existing customers and/or expand the business mix\xc2\xb7 Reviewing non-standard case referrals and deliver underwriting decisions, following agreed processes at the designated authority level, in order to secure profitable business within the agreed risk appetite\xc2\xb7 Providing expert advice, guidance and coaching to less qualified and/or experienced colleagues to address technical referrals and raise standards and expertise across the technical community\xc2\xb7 Recruiting, managing, coaching, developing and motivating the team to ensure delivery of the required standards of performance now and in the future\xc2\xb7 Leading and/or contributing to technical audits and peer review processes as required to support and enable the maintenance of an effective control environment\xc2\xb7 Ensuring the internal systems and processes are in place and working effectively to support the business needs.QualificationsQualifications, Skills and Experience:\xc2\xb7 Significant experience in underwriting large and complex Property risks in the Asia market\xc2\xb7 Experience with designing and managing multinational programs\xc2\xb7 Strong leadership and people management skills\xc2\xb7 Excellent business development skills and established rapport with local network\xc2\xb7 Thorough understanding of the broker network with good business planning skills\xc2\xb7 Strong negotiation skills with a high level of customer and commercial awareness\xc2\xb7 Competent in Microsoft Office and relevant software packages / insurance platforms\xc2\xb7 Willingness to travel overseas as requiredWorking at Allied WorldOur team of over 1,500 professionals has deep expertise in the industry.
