What you do

The ESG Risk Manager will be a key member of the OCBC Group ESG Risk Department which oversees and sets the ESG standards and policies for the Bank. This is a role with a group-wide remit with oversight of subsidiaries in key markets in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, China and Hong Kong, as well as international branches globally.

The purpose of the role is to support the incorporation of ESG risks within OCBC Group\xe2\x80\x99s risk management organization and framework, and drive OCBC\xe2\x80\x99s ESG risk management capabilities and processes.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Manage ESG risk management programme and initiatives (with particular emphasis on climate risks) of the Bank, define target operating model and oversee its integration into the broader Enterprise-wide risk management frameworks, to ensure continued relevance and effectiveness with alignment to the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s risk appetite, business strategy and compliance to regulations. This may involve the development of new policies or procedures where applicable to support new initiatives.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to jointly develop and implement the climate risk assessment models and methodologies, including the identification of data and systems requirements to enable such assessments.
  • Prepare regular ESG and climate risk reporting to senior management and support OCBC\xe2\x80\x99s annual disclosures. This involves working with internal data offices to collect data for analysis and compose risk insights and commentaries.
  • Contribute towards interpreting and meeting expectations from key regulators (e.g., MAS Environmental Risk Management Guidelines) and actively support ad-hoc regulatory consultations on ESG-related matters. Support subsidiaries and overseas branches in reviewing their gap analyses and action plans.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders in Business to recommend and drive enhancement in policies/guidelines to manage climate risks in alignment with our Net Zero targets.
  • Provide subject matter expertise by keeping abreast of the latest climate and emerging ESG risks trends, scientific insights, external (e.g., international and industry best practice standards and principles) and regulatory developments globally and in OCBC\xe2\x80\x99s key markets through banking industry benchmarking exercises, networking and external working groups\xe2\x80\x99 participation.
  • Conduct ESG-related training and capacity building (e.g., risks and emerging technologies).

Qualifications

Who you are
  • Minimum 8 \xe2\x80\x93 10 years relevant experience in ESG, environmental or climate risk management, preferably in financial institutions
  • Demonstrable skills in risk analysis, or economics or another analytical or quantitative function, and comfortable working with large datasets
  • Working knowledge of enterprise risk management in financial institution preferred
  • Knowledge of key sustainability issues, ESG international standards/principles and regulatory expectations on the banking sector
  • Relevant academic studies, in sustainability or, environmental-related field
  • Effective communication and possess writing skills with clarity
  • Able to work independently, be proactive, able to prioritize and deliver under tight deadlines
  • Able to manage cross-functional collaborations within Risk and across other departments such as Subsidiaries and other sustainability teams in the Bank.
