Workplace Safety Officer

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct regular reviews, formulate safety guidelines, standards and SOP as well as promulgate and implement new changes to ensure DMERI’s workplace safety and health regulations, guidelines, standards and practices are effective, robust and up to date
  • Plan and conduct independent audits and inspection to ensure DMERI staff’s compliance as well as national workplace safety health regulations, guidelines and standards
  • Maintain inventory list, conduct regular maintenance and replenishment as well as propose new or upgrade of equipment to ensure the adequacy and functionality of DMERI’s safety equipment are in compliance with DSO as well as national regulatory requirements
  • Identify and recommend best practise and improvement initiatives to minimise the occurrence of workplace safety and health incidents in DMERI
  • Assist in formulation and implementation of Business Continuity Plan to ensure that DMERI can respond to any safety and health related incident swiftly and effectively
  • Conduct safety briefs, organise Workplace Safety and Health awareness programmes as well as conduct basic Safety and Health trainings to ensure DMERI staff maintain a strong mindset in workplace safety and health
  • Secretariat for DMERI Workplace Safety and Health Committee meetings

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Safety and Health or related discipline with at least 2 to 5 years of experience in scientific institution
  • Conversant in Microsoft Word
  • Possess minimally a Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health
  • MOM-registered Workplace Safety Officer
  • SCDF-certified Fire Safety Officer
