Job Description

Our client is test laboratory specializing in fast, reliable and accurate testing of metal. They offer a comprehensive selection of tests and inspection services including mechanical tests, chemical and metallographic analysis, corrosion tests, non-destructive tests, welding consultancy & weld inspection, failure analysis, etc.SUMMARY OF JOB CONTENTSThe goal of this role is to ensure the smooth and safe running of a workshop to cut and machine customers' samples in order for the respective test departments to perform the necessary testing(s).JOB DIMENSION (SCOPE)Operations (Daily Tasks): Responsible to supervise, coordinate and organize the intra-departmental routine activities of your department. Manage production in workshop, including:o Ensure test specimens are ready in time.o Ensure test specimens meet requirements before handing them over to testing department.o Manage sample leftovers in workshop Manage resources in workshop, including:o Ensure workshop machinists are adequately trained for their current and future assignments.o Ensure proper use and maintenance of workshop equipment.Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with the Workplace Safety and Health policies at all times as well as the quality of work perform.Quality Assurance: Ensure the compliances of accredited laboratory to SAC-SINGLAS technical and quality requirements Review existing work flows and procedure and make recommendations for improvements and executing improvement plans. Make proposal to HOD on new SOPs that deem fit.Leadership: Guide, support and follow up with team members during the execution of their tasks with regard to quantity and quality. Responsible for coaching and motivating your team members in terms of both skills required to perform their work and soft skills and also play a role model, in order to maximize sales opportunities. Conduct Performance Feedback Dialogue with team members on a continuous basis Constructively communicate and develop good collaboration with other departments, so that a positive work culture and smooth information flow is guaranteed.QUALIFICATIONS At least 5 years of experience in managing workshop operations and operating machines. Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/Industrial Design or the related industries Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, formulate production routes and process plans Familiarity with machining processes (milling, turning, and wire EDM operations) will be an added advantage Familiar with metal processing techniques such as welding, sample cutting, sample processing, heat treatment.
