Microsoft’s Device Partner Solution Sales (DPSS) is looking for a front-line finance leader. Our Team is part of the Global Partners Solutions (GPS) organization, focused on delivering intelligent cloud and intelligent edge solutions at scale. We are looking for a finance professional who can proactively partner with internal and external customers to have impact with the goal of maximizing revenue, market share, and profit.
The Device Partner Solution Sales team is primarily responsible for build-with, sell in and sell thru motions for both commercial and consumer devices and will partner closely with the Consumer Channel Sales and Marketing (CCSM) team for consumer PCs sales and attach of Windows, Microsoft 365 and Server products.
The primary purpose of this position is to be the trusted financial advisor of the DPSS leadership team in the Asia Region (ANZ, Japan, Greater China, SEA, Korea and India), with great focus on business insight, analysis, planning & forecasting for short-term and long-term sales to end customers and partners. The Asia DPSS controller supports the business leads in developing and driving sales execution strategies and business performance accountability of all facets of the Financial Targets and Business Scorecard, managing the P&L end to end.


Responsibilities

Leadership & Management
  • Drive the overall finance performance and forecast accuracy for Windows, Office and Server business working with DPSS and Category leadership teams at Subsidiary, Regional and WW levels to understand the drivers and the levers available to influence, proactively flagging upsides, risks, actions needed and managing the overall investments and contribution margin.
  • Build DPSS business expertise and understand strategy, priorities and roadmap in depth to be able to contribute to the growth and transformation of the DPSS business in the Asia region including areas like CSP, Teams Room etc.
  • The DPSS Controller must review markets trends and look for opportunities to drive business growth, understanding the PC market, distribution/reseller channel dynamics and digital transformation across geographies. Drive business analytics and predictability to tell one aligned story for DPSS
  • Lead responsibility for managing the DPSS Rhythm of Business (ROB) in the region from a finance perspective including planning, business reviews, growth plans and share deep insights on performance and forward looking business
  • Partnering with both Devices Sales and Category to drive accurate DMI forecasts and ensure common understanding and alignment on each forecast cycle across all stakeholders.
  • Manage the DPSS P&L thru resource allocation and investment planning, partnering with the FPA controller and the outsourcing teams as needed. Accountable for the DPSS P&L Signs-off on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure a strong culture of compliance across the teams leveraging data and analytics to identify our risks and treat audits as learning opportunity.

Drives Finance & Business Excellence
  • Fully accountable for driving effective and efficient financial processes (Close, forecast, budget) resulting in timely analysis of results, accurate forecast and aggressive but achievable targets.
  • Lead responsibility for managing the DPSS Rhythm of Business (ROB) planning and execution, including management of RAS support team.
  • Own P&L accuracy for DPSS on a monthly basis across all lines including Rev Adj and Opex.
  • Align with DPSS SR Controller, CCSM Region Fin Lead, CCSM SR and FP&A team to drive process simplification, standardization including RAS and WW Initiatives.
  • Coordinate with Corp HQ on worldwide projects and influence process improvements.
  • Ensure a strong culture of Compliance across DPSS in the Region and drive the business to take actions for risk areas identified. Ensure teams are aware of and follow corporate policies and compliance needs related to sales and marketing activities.
  • Challenges existing norms or courses of action, facilitating fully informed decision-making. Creates constructive friction by fearlessly asking the right questions and challenging assumptions.


Grows the business profitably
  • Assist the DPSS Leads in coordinating and driving business functions and initiatives. Be trusted financial adviser.
  • Lead and advise the sales team to prioritize and pursue growth opportunities that align with the Corporate and local strategic objectives.
  • Positively impact the business by effectively managing the P&L:
    • Effective usage of rebates and channel incentives.
    • Making trade-offs between top line and bottom line growth.
    • Understanding partner profitability models.
    • Understand and drive effective management of software channel inventory.


People Leadership
  • While this is not a People Manager role, it is expected to lead the Asia Software Controller Community of DPSS Sub Region Controllers and Software Controllers with shared accountabilities as a Team Leader driving accountability, prioritization and business impact through the extended finance team.
  • Coach and develop the DPSS Sub Region Controllers in partnership with the Sub Region Finance Leads.
  • Active voice and leader in the various finance communities. Participant in the DPSS Controller community and contribute to global projects.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience.
    • OR Master's Degree AND 4+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience.
  • Effective Communicator - strong written and verbal communications skills and ability to flex up and down and organization structure.
  • Ability to work in matrix organization, dealing with ambiguity.
  • Strong influencing skills to drive effective decision-making with business partners.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications
  • Ideally 8+ years of relevant finance experience and working closely with the business.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Association of Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA) or equivalent certification.
