What the role is: The Travel Agents & Tourist Guides (TATG) Division is seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to come make a difference and chart the strategic direction of the Tourist Guides (TGs) community in Singapore. Being an integral part of the tourism ecosystem, TGs are critical assets who showcase the Singapore Story and create positive memorable experiences through storytelling. To raise the professionalism and quality of licensed TGs, the Tourist Guides Department (TGD) looks at the holistic development of TGs, ranging from training curriculum, licence policies, enhancing the TG association capabilities to upholding legislation and enforcement. We believe that the community of Travel Agents, Tour Operators and Tourist Guides are inter-dependent. As such, being a part of TATG will provide great exposure and cross-department collaboration opportunities to expand one\xe2\x80\x99s experience in the travel space.

Main responsibilities: As a member of the TGD team, you will be playing an instrumental role in shaping the TG landscape through the Future of Guiding (FOG 2.0) strategy to raise the profile of guiding and attract talent into the industry. This includes:

• Conducting a holistic review of the training needs of different groups of TGs (General Tourist Guides, Area Tourist Guides) at different stages of their career (pre-licensing, newly licensed, experienced)
• Developing a cohesive training framework that promotes professionalism and quality of guiding
• Reviewing/ enhancing the various training platforms currently available to TGs to ensure that they remain updated and relevant to the evolving needs of travellers
• Partnering with TG associations, Institutes of Higher Learning, Approved Training Organisations and training providers to develop suitable courses for TGs
• Working with Government agencies to ensure that incentives are in place to promote a lifelong learning culture for TGs

Job Requirements:

• Analytical skills to carry out in-depth reviews of issues and propose sound recommendations to promote professionalism and quality of guiding.

• Good project and timeline management skills, with an eye for detail.

• Numerate and comfortable working with data, to derive data-driven insights to support workstreams.
