Summary
The principal functions include developing opinions on prospective investments, performing due diligence, conducting return analysis and writing investment memorandums.

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficiency in business Mandarin (written and spoken) is required.
• Should have a thorough knowledge of private equity markets and financial expertise.

Responsibilities
New Direct Investments (40% of time)

• Identify, evaluate and invest directly into operating companies (both in Asia and internationally).
• Perform company due diligence that includes industry research, calls with management teams, research analysts and other bidders (if any) and site tours.
• Prepare investment memorandums, generate detailed financial models and recommend investments to the Managing Directors.
• Assist in the legal negotiation and closing process for new investments.

Follow-On Direct Investments (20% of time)

• Work with MD to determine the proposed structure.
• Identify and correspond with potential new investors.
• Construct evaluative capitalization models & analytic scenarios.
• Assist in the negotiations with existing investors, management, and/or new investors to determine deal structure and valuation.
• Prepare investment memorandums.

Portfolio Monitoring/Development (15% of time)

• Attend board meetings/conference calls (where appropriate).
• Perform analytical work to support company-related events/decisions.
• Assist management in identifying and corresponding with potential M&A partners - interface with investment bankers.
• Assist CFO in budget development, pipeline analysis, compensation plans, etc.

Fund Management, Annual and Quarterly Reports (20% of time)

• Oversee the reporting on assigned HarbourVest Direct funds.
• Initial preparation of the Manager's letter for such funds.
• Review in detail the annual and semi-annual reports for such funds.
• Compile, enter, and monitor information pursuant to Direct’s reporting process.
• Additional duties include direct fund review and write-ups, updating exhibits and writing portfolio summaries.

Sourcing (5% of time)

• Serve as 1st reviewer for unsolicited offering memos.
• Proactively seek new investment opportunities by attending industry conferences and events.

Education
BS/BA or equivalent
Work Experience
2-5 years of relevant work experience. Candidates with prior buyside / private equity experience will be prioritized
