Department Summary:

Macro Trading is part of the Markets business and is a global market making business across Currencies, Rates and Commodities products. The APAC Macro Trading business is represented across 13 locations.

The Business Control Manager (BCM) team consists individuals who act as trusted advisors to the business and are responsible for ensuring a strong and consistent control environment is deployed from front office to back office across the Macro Trading business in APAC.

BCMs are responsible for managing the end-to-end controls framework of each business in an efficient and robust way. Working closely with the business heads and the JPM groups supporting the business, BCMs will also help implement a best-in-class supervisory culture and ensure the policies of the firm and associated controls are appropriately executed.

The Business Control Managers focus will also include:

  • Serving as trusted control advisor to the Front Office within the controls space
  • Represent Front Office interests vis a vis control/regulatory initiatives
  • Execute and implement business controls priorities and strategy - drive control agenda at functional level across critical business unit risks
  • Front office supervisory management and execution
  • Control and Risk governance implementation and reporting

Responsibilities

Governance, Supervision and Oversight of Business Controls:

Governance - In partnership with Business Executives, establish and drive business control forums, ensuring agenda and materials effectively cover critical business operating risk

Oversight of end- to-end Business Controls- In partnership with Business Executives and groups supporting the business, oversee and ensure that the Business' end to end Control environment is operating as intended.

This includes:
  • Review and implement key firm wide policies on behalf of the Business
  • Identify and remediate control gaps
  • Executing ad hoc / analytical requests / control deep dives/ projects

Front Office supervision:
  • Develop, review and implement Policies and procedures on Front Office Supervision
  • Develop, review and implement Supervisory tools
  • Facilitate the execution of various Supervisory attestations

Regulatory, Audits and Compliance Testing:
  • Preparing the business for controls audits and testing as well as leading the coordination of business regulatory exams
  • Represent Front Office interests vis a vis control/regulatory initiatives

Execution of the Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF):

The ORMF provides the framework for the identification, evaluation, measurement and monitoring of operational risk.

Key components include:
  • Manage Control and Operational Risk Evaluation process
  • Timely identification, escalation and recording of operational errors
  • Timely review of incidents with key stakeholders to agree on root causes and delivery of appropriate remedial actions

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in Markets Business or Finance sector, Risk & Controls, Operations, Products Control and/ or other support functions.
  • Good understanding of markets and trading products
  • Good attention to details along with an open and investigative mind-set, able to see issues at both a high-level and in detail
  • Strong understanding of controls and their application to different processes and businesses
  • Strong analytical, problem solving & process re-engineering skills
  • Strong team player with excellent communication, partnering and influencing skill
  • Ability to independently to lead initiatives with exposure to senior Business stakeholders
  • Good organizational skills, able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Highly motivated self-starter
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Finance, Economics or other related discipline
