What the role is:The MCI Planning team takes a long-range, big-picture perspective to assess Singapore\'s competitiveness and identify future opportunities and risks for MCI in the light of global trends.What you will be working on:As Deputy Director / Senior Assistant Director (Planning), you will: - Research emerging trends and issues, with a view to position MCI to cope with the challenges and opportunities of the future - Consult and work with other Ministries and agencies on a wide range of projects, both to deepen understanding about shifts in our operating context and to build capability in strategic planning and futures - Build and maintain links with a diverse network of global thought leaders, to bring their expertise and insight to bear on Singapore\'s solutions to tomorrow\'s problems Some of the major activities to be undertaken are as follows: Shape MCI\'s strategic positioning and strategies - Assess opportunities or threats that can affect Singapore\'s competitiveness and the strategic positioning of MCI\'s portfolio of domains using horizon scanning, scenario planning, systems thinking and other tools. - Characterise and review the relevance of MCI\'s portfolio of domains - Incubate initial thinking on new topics, in partnership with the relevant MCI and external stakeholders, or thought leaders - Facilitate senior leadership in decision making, e.g. through gathering quantitative and qualitative data, framing the analysis, and highlighting trade-offs, potential roadblocks and risks for the organisation. Drive coherence in execution of MCI\'s strategies - Develop a house view on what success looks like for MCI - Identify inter-dependencies and linkages to ensure coherence in the formulation and operationalisation of strategies across the organisation - Develop, manage and drive adoption of strategy frameworks and processes within MCI with relevant stakeholders Enable and monitor effectiveness of MCI\'s strategies - Provide guidance on strategy development and execution, including progress tracking, governance, reviews and capability development Special Job requirements (e.g. Travel etc.): NAWhat we are looking for:\xef\x82\xb7 At least 5 years of experience, preferably in the areas of strategic planning, strategy development, horizon scanning and competitiveness analysis \xef\x82\xb7 Experience in the government sector will be an advantage \xef\x82\xb7 Outstanding analytical, problem solving, critical and lateral thinking skills, including ability to take an unconstrained look at the global landscape to identify new opportunities and offer alternative views, critical observations and novel solutions to enhance Singapore\'s competitiveness \xef\x82\xb7 Proven ability to logically structure and substantiate an argument \xef\x82\xb7 Excellent verbal and written communication skills \xef\x82\xb7 Resourceful and curious about what the world will look like tomorrow \xef\x82\xb7 Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage both internal and external stakeholders We regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates would be notified.
