Role: ESG Solutions Specialist (ASEAN)
Location: Singapore
The Team: Sustainable1 is S&P Global's centralized source for sustainability intelligence. You will be part of a talented team of customer focused ESG specialists within the commercial organization. The position reports to the Head of ASEAN ESG Solutions. Your role is to help to grow S&P Global's ESG business by providing our clients and prospects with specialist ESG knowledge and a curated diagnosis of the ESG products and services that S&P Global provides that would best meet their needs. We aim to provide a seamless and elevated customer experience as we power the markets of the future with essential sustainability intelligence.

Specific focus of the role: As a key member of the APAC ESG Solutions Specialist team, you will have a key role in enabling S&P Global's ESG business growth across all divisions. This includes ESG market development activities, working on clients ESG & climate reports, working with clients to identify which of S&P's best in class client ESG solutions best meet their needs, collaborating with colleagues to build a strong pipeline of ESG business opportunities with existing and new clients. We address all market segments including banking, insurance, asset management and corporations.
Responsibilities:

  • Support qualification and diagnosis of client and prospect ESG needs, individually or as part of a team, including the ability to curate and communicate technically and commercially on the appropriate solution suite. Synthesize and communicate clear messages on complex topics, including product methodologies and explain the relevance of solutions.
  • Plan and prepare presentations, write proposals and co-ordinate RFP responses for ASEAN clients, including contractual drafting. Provide sustainability reporting services to client in compliance with local and international regulatory requirements on reporting and corporate governance .
  • Co-ordinate with internal stakeholders (within Sustainable1 and more globally S&P Global), to enable an effective and joined up approach to client delivery, tracking progress, and making recommendations for adjustments as needed.
  • Build and educate the market on ESG by representing S&P Global at external and hosted events, in client meetings and other fora.
  • Synthesize and communicate clear messages on complex topics, including product methodologies and to explain the relevance of solutions.
What We're Looking For, Basic Qualifications:
  • 2-3 years' experience in an ESG role with a leading consulting firm
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including confidence presenting to large groups at public forums, and the ability to write compelling, articulate proposals for innovative solutions
  • Understanding of the global ESG landscape and the sustainable finance marketplace, including key drivers and trends that are shaping the ESG marketplace
  • Knowledge of ESG data and its relevance to various use cases and stakeholders
  • Awareness of investment risks and opportunities associated with climate, water, biodiversity
  • Business acumen, good negotiation skills and persuasiveness
  • Personable, and enjoy networking and meeting new people
  • Self-motivated and results oriented, with a positive, "can do" attitude.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent English language skills; Candidates with one of the Southeast Asian language skills is a good plus, but not a requirement .
  • A sharp intellect, commercial acumen, creative approach to problem solving in a new and innovative industry and an entrepreneurial attitude are important
  • Understanding how financial markets operate, and also in particular how financial institutions are evaluating and incorporating ESG and climate issues in their decision-making and the organizations involved (e.g. TCFD, SASB, UNPRI)
  • Understanding of evolving ESG-related regulations globally (including EU) and in ASEAN
  • Understanding of some of the following: ESG risk and opportunity analysis by investors and banks, Portfolio climate risk assessment and TCFD reporting, use of environmental data in financial products, corporate sustainability strategy and performance, environmental profit & loss accounts.
  • Speaking and presenting to large groups of people and executive audiences
  • Ability to travel to offsite meetings if government travel advice permits
