:The Lien Centre for Social Innovation (LCSI) at Singapore Management University (SMU) is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Freelance Senior Researcher with strong writing capabilities to support a comprehensive research project on charity law and governance across six Southeast Asian countries. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the charity sector, particularly in the context of legal frameworks and governance practices within the region.Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Secondary Research:
  • Perform in-depth secondary research on charity law and governance in six selected Southeast Asian countries.
  • Analyze and synthesize data from various sources to create comprehensive reports on the legal and governance structures in these countries.
  • Develop Research Instruments:
  • Draft well-structured interview questions tailored to charity law experts.
  • Design and refine a charity governance index framework to evaluate and compare governance practices across the selected countries.
  • Expert Identification and Recruitment:
  • Identify and create a database of charity law experts from the six selected asian countries.
  • Recruit shortlisted law experts from the six selected Southeast Asian countries from the database.
  • Engage and coordinate with these experts to gather insights and validate research findings.
  • Report Writing:
  • Draft detailed reports based on research findings, incorporating expert input and analysis.
  • Ensure that all written outputs are clear, concise, and accessible to a wide audience, including stakeholders in the charity sector.
  • Management Skills
  • Candidate will need to be able to manage any other vendors, collaborators, and/or research assistants who will be working on or involved in this project.
  • Candidate will need to work collaboratively and receive direction and guidance from the project lead from LCSI.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum Bachelor\'s degree.
  • Proven experience in conducting research, particularly in the charity sector or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of charity law and governance, with a focus on Southeast Asia.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality, well-structured reports.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience in developing research frameworks and instruments (e.g., interview questions, indices).
  • Familiarity with remote work tools and practices.
