The Job in a Nutshell: The Yoga Movement General Manager will be responsible for the fiscal performance of the business and its general growth. They will be the key protector of the YM brand and each of its touch points, as they go to market. With a keen understanding of the P&L and business goals of YM, the General Manager will work daily with three key operational pillars of the business (Business Ops, Marketing, and Teaching Team & training), ensuring their planning and execution to the Brands standards. Maintaining a strong offering in the regular class schedule, an engaging and client focused Yoga Movement Academy (YMA) & specialty class calendar, ensuring culture curation via training and incentive programs for our ops team, and bolstering our marketing plan through great content, creative, and PR will be the focuses of this extremely important role. Beyond the operational requirements of the role, the General Manager will work side by side with the Finance and Admin Manager on daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual reporting. They will understand the key levers for financial success across the business and be able to activate change in schedule, offerings, promo’s, campaigns, and price points to garner results. The role reports straight to the Directors and will ultimately be responsible for the development of business (to brand) within the existing walls of YM... and bolster all future business development plans laid out by the Company’s Directors. Key Responsibilities: FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT, SALES, & FORECASTING With absolute P&L accountability for the business, the General Manager will intimately understand the $$$ and attendance figures for each location and be able to speak with confidence on daily/monthly/annual results. They will sweat each line item on the P&L, constantly looking for improvements in both bottom and top line performance. Working side by side the with the Finance and Admin Manager, the General Manager will bolster Yoga Movement’s strong emphasis on corporate governance and financial reporting, with a view that Financial Management is the key component for business planning. The GM will be passionate about numbers and the levers that effect the overall stature of the business. The GM will have a strong plan for the top line success of the business but will also be dynamic in their management of that plan, understanding that things will need to change regularly, and often last minute. They will also share that same energy for keeping costs at an appropriate level, to plan, and feedback to the Founders on challenges in this area well in advance. BUSINESS OPS, CULTURE CURATION, & THE PHYSICAL SPACE The General Manager will ensure that the Business Ops Manager is working to plan and to brand, supporting the Systems for Customer Service Management and demanding that these programs look, feel, and smell like YM. The deliverable in this area of the role will be a clear and considered path for trainings and incentives to address very deliberate business needs in our ‘In Studio’ service areas, as well as our ‘YM Live’ offering. They will establish a plan with the Business Ops Manager and the Team & Culture Manager to secure a team that is well recruited, trained, remunerated, structured, cultured, inspired, and incentivised. The General Manager will demand systems for advancement, systems for appraisal, performance reviews, milestone, and goal setting, and pay review recommendations. Ultimately, we want to ensure our staff are happy and fulfilled through a confirmed 6 month rolling calendar of staff incentives, working with YM partners to develop these staff benefits at cost. Company Culture is a huge part of ensuring our brands success. The General Manager will help define the Company’s culture and communicate it though functions like; brand book development, team presentation, brand language and lingo, and ensuring a very positive yet relaxed demeanour for our front desk staff... we are confident (sometimes cocky), but we are polite, engaging, and fun. We have a keen knowledge of our services and products and speak to clients with absolute confidence on each. The General Manager will be a beacon of energy and inspiration for our greater team and be a key part in building succession through our structure for not only front desk staff, to Studio Managers, but also right through to areas of Business Ops Management, Marketing, and Content & Creative. MARKETING, CONTENT & CREATIVE, DIGITAL ASSETS, & PR The Yoga Movement Digital Assets, as well as its Content & Creative, are key touch points of the YM brand, serving as one of the first experiences a potential client will have with the business. The General Manager will be responsible for demanding a 6-month populated schedule from the Marketing Manager, with a new, exciting, content-driven, and engaging customer experience for YM’ers online. The General Manager will ensure that not only is this content developed in house but strategize cost effective ways to work with people both inside and outside the Youth Health and Wellness industry, to develop on point daily content. Working closely with the Creative & Content Manager, the General Manager will be directly responsible for managing the development of all YM campaign material, in line with the overall Marketing Plan that they develop. YM will work to a 6-month rolling calendar of events, workshops, and promotions, giving the Creative Team ample time to develop the content behind these campaigns, to service both ‘online’ and ‘in studio’ experiences of the YM client base. To a lesser extent, the General Manager will be tasked with ensuring the physical studios are up to date and on point with relevant signage and promotional material. This may include, but is not limited to; current campaign material, notices to clients, studio signage, art walls (can be commissioned by the Creative), and anything likely to improve the In Studio experience for the client. Most of the time, this portion of the role will be a simple adaptation of existing materials built for Campaigns or web experience. The General Manager will be the key point of contact for outside brands or ambassadors looking to work with YM. Working on the “90% NO” rule, they will be the brand connector from tie ups, marketed events, and ambassadors that we would extend free classes to. They will then leverage these relationships through the YM communication channels to the best of their ability. The General Manager will have the keenest understanding of current youth trends and be able to take this understanding and apply it to the Yoga Movement brand. TEACHING, TRAINING, PROGRAMS, & SPECIALTY CLASSES The General Manager will work closely with the Academy & Training Manager to ensure the quality and success of the YM teaching team through management of clear goals and metrics. YM’s vision is to be the best teaching team in Asia, which to us means a family of committed individuals who enthusiastically deliver the YM Brand of teaching with client-first hospitality. The GM will heavily guide the Academy & Training Manager to oversee curation and development of the Teaching Team: recruitment, onboarding, mentorship structures, training, and development of all YM teachers. In addition, they will support the Academy & Training Manager in the operations and logistics of the Yoga Movement Academy, ensuring maximization of intakes, scheduling, succession planning, client management and training material updates, as well as ideation around continued growth and development of the Academy offerings in line with business goals. The General Manager will drive a schedule of speciality classes (i.e., Level Ups and Pop Ups) and ensure that these classes are ‘to brand’, coordinating with the Marketing Manager on ‘mini campaigns’ to support the marketing and growth of these smaller properties under the YM brand.
