Job Summary: Incumbent is responsible for planning and setting up of mushroom production facility including R&D on various aspects of improving mushroom yield and quality. The incumbent through his/her expertise will put in place systems, policies and procedures to meet production yield objectives. The incumbent will be responsible for the overall P&L in achieving company objectives based on agreed budget plan. The incumbent will also support in identifying suitable location for the mushroom farm. He/she shall also demonstrate hands-on experience and maturity, in leading his team to meet the company objectives. He/she shall oversee the day-to-day operations at site level to ensure overall production excellence is achieved. The incumbent shall also manage the research initiatives in mushroom production including yield efficiency and mushroom product development. The incumbent shall also contribute his/her efforts in support of sales and distribution to prospect new and growing markets, and to improve sales margins through cost efficacy in yield performance. As General Manager, you will be accountable for the following responsibilities and duties as stated below: Responsibilities and Duties Plan and operate the mushroom production including mushroom R&D within the agree budget. Implement systems, policies, and standard procedures on agriculture operations activities to ensure consistency in high yield of mushrooms in accordance to agreed standard. Oversee the overall mushroom production to ensure proper controls and mechanisms in place on efficient use of resources to meet company objectives. Implement and monitor quality assurance procedures to ensure good quality of mushroom yield consistently. Perform and drive improvement in all aspects of the mushroom production and research, ensuring the effective use of resources, manage and install infrastructure as required including equipment purchase including its maintenance. Ensure the best use of resources and infrastructure for profitable and sustainability of the mushroom business. Provide support in identifying suitable location for setting up of mushroom farm. Lead research and development activities in diversifying mushroom products to cater for different market segments. Manage mushroom crop development and oversee the general labour work requirement in mushroom farm operations Enforce and comply with all workplaces, health, and safety regulations. Provide support on sales and distribution activities in venturing new markets for business growth and profitability. Qualifications & Requirements Possess educational background related to horticulture or agronomics Have at least 10 years of experience in managing food production including new product development. Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skill within the organisation. Able to think outside of the box, and to provide profitability proposal to the senior management for business growth. Provide hands-on leadership in engaging team members to guide them on daily priorities and operation. Possess strong initiative and ability to prioritise tasks. Display a can-do attitude with genuine passion and enthusiasm for business excellence. Specific Requirements Have technical knowledge of agronomic inputs required for mushroom production Display a proven record of skills and knowledge in agriculture/horticulture operations, preferably in the open field and in greenhouses Have experience in setting up and overseeing the mushroom farm and business on end-to-end process from cultivation to sales and distribution. Possess technical and managerial knowledge in leading research & development team. Have skills and knowledge in assessing, setting up and maintaining production and research infrastructure in good order.
