Job Description


he Singapore Swimming Club (SSC) is a premier members-only recreational Club founded in 1894. Located in exclusive prime residential district Tanjong Rhu, the Club is fringed by serenity, yet merely minutes away from the city centre. The Club has a variety of sporting facilities, including two Olympic-size pools and one training pool for children as well as tennis, squash and badminton courts and a table tennis hall. It also has a fully equipped gym and a 10-lane Bowling Centre. The Club\xe2\x80\x99s 11 F&B outlets cater to different gastronomic preferences and palates. As a family Club, Singapore Swimming Club regularly organises an array of recreational and social activities suitable for members of all ages. We are looking for a highly business-oriented and hospitality management professional to take on the role of General Manager of SSC.



Reporting directly to the President and the Management Committee of the Club, the appointee will be overall responsible for the entire operation of the Club in accordance with the Club\'s operations standards, and policies and procedures, and or as directed by the President and the Management Committee.

Your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Keep the President and the Management Committee apprised and report all aspects of the management and administration matters of the Club and matters pertaining to the specific areas of responsibilities as defined in the Constitution, and any additional areas as delegated.
  • Faithfully and diligently carry out the duties as the General Manager of the Club, abiding by the Constitution, Rules, and Bye-laws, and achieving general objectives set forth by the Management Committee.
  • Achieving and maintaining a high level of service etiquette objectives in accordance with the Club\'s business plan and operating budget; enforcing the strictest Corporate Governance; compliance with the Code of Ethics at all times; and delivering the Club\xe2\x80\x99s Vision and Mission.
  • Accountable for the goals and objectives set forth by the Club with overall responsibility in ensuring that high quality, efficiency, and standards are achieved in all aspects of operations including any special projects as assigned from time to time.
  • Assume the role to advise the Management Committee on all matters relating to the maintenance, management and future development of the Club, achieving the recognition of the Club being a Members Club of Choice.
  • Interact with the members of the Sub-Committees individually or collectively on matters pertaining to their specific areas of responsibilities as delegated by the Management Committee or their respective Committee Chairman.
  • Provide strong leadership and guidance to the Senior Management Team, defining their roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities including the establishment of specific targets for the work year.
  • Exercise prudent management and operation of the Club\'s finances, operations, and facilities and ensure the smooth, and efficient running of the Club.
  • Maintaining proper records of the Management Committee meetings and decisions made at the meetings; ensuring compliance with the requirements of the Registry of Societies; and any other legal agencies the Club is subjected to, according to the laws and regulations in force.
  • Keep members informed of the activities in the Club in a timely manner utilising all media platforms such as Splash, circulars, physical notice boards, electronic notice boards, and the Club\'s website as well as enforcing the Rules and Bye-Laws governing the conduct of members, guests and other visitors to the Club, and the usage and access to the various physical and recreational facilities of the Club.
  • Ensuring all aspects of internal competitions and visitor events are organised and administered in an effective and efficient manner.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Hospitality / Tourism / Hotel Management or equivalent from a reputable institution with at least 10 years of hands-on experience in general managerial role in prestigious hospitality and service-oriented industries such as hotel, resort and country club.
  • Good knowledge of private members\xe2\x80\x99 club, maintenance, etiquette, and rules as well as the ability to manage promotional activities.
  • Computer literate and manages overall club operations, staff management and financials.
  • Strong business focus and commercial acumen; marketing and public relations skills; ability to deal with varied constituents consisting of committee and club members; guests; government agencies; community; staff and unions; vendors; suppliers; and stakeholders.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills with strong interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to adapt and embrace strong cultural diversity and work in multi-ethnic teams.
  • Willing to work on weekends and public holidays.
