:Our client is a global media company that produces television content for global distribution and also acquires a number of different properties to serve its subscriber base all over the world.This is an exciting opportunity for a media lawyer with APAC regional experience to work in a fast-paced dynamic business with experienced media professionals across all business divisions promising a broad spread of work and responsibilities. This role reports into the Head of Legal for APAC.Key Responsibilities

• Negotiate, review and draft distribution agreements for carriage of subscription television channels in the Asia Pacific region.
• Negotiate, review and draft service agreements/joint venture or partnership agreements with network/distributors for television channels and services in Asia Pacific region.
• Negotiate, review and draft telco distribution agreements, digital/new media distribution agreements, technology agreements and agreements with online payment service providers.
• Draft and negotiate origination, transmission & uplink, channel playout, encoding, IT, research, marketing, finance inter-company tax related agreements and administrative services related agreements.
• Negotiate, review and draft multi-region and single territory media rights acquisition agreements, media rights sublicense agreements for exploitation throughout the APAC region.
• Review and draft subscriber terms and conditions, privacy policies for direct to consumer services including mobile app terms and conditions.
• Negotiate, review and draft advertising sales, marketing, agency, sponsorship, and other commercial agreements.
• Negotiate, review and draft service provider agreements including for technical services, production services and office services.
• Advise channel/services production and marketing teams on media rights exploitation/programming compliance issues and co-ordination with rights holders.
• Advise channel/services production and marketing teams on advertising/sponsorship compliance issues and rights holders restrictions.
• Help keep the legal team updated on regulatory and compliance issues in relation to consumer protection laws, advertising regulations, data protection/privacy regulations, OTT services regulations, listed events regulations, broadcast regulations, captioning and broadcast/OTT licensing, uplinking and downlinking licensing of channels and services throughout the Asia Pacific region.
• Assist litigation and contentious issues such as intellectual property disputes, piracy (issuance of cease and desist letters, enforcement advice) and bad debt collection in Asia Pacific.

Requirements

• Admitted to practice law.
• 6 years and above post qualification experience, preferably from a media/TV multinational company, OTT platform, digital distribution platform. Private practice experience with a reputable law firm will be an advantage.
• Good negotiation & drafting skills.
• Good contract & commercial law knowledge, with knowledge of relevant regulatory framework and issues within the Asia Pacific region an advantage.
• Excellent English. Ability to speak, read and write in a Southeast Asian language, such as Bahasa Indonesia, is an advantage.
• Team player, works and communicates well with persons of varying background and skills.
• Ability to manage own time judiciously and deal effectively with the competing interests of several different individuals/departments.
• Business oriented commercial mindset with a flexible, practical problem solving approach.
• Ability to accurately assess legal risk and balance this against business interests.
• Should excel in a fast-paced commercial environment and be able to prioritise work appropriately and function largely autonomously with minimal supervision taking into account commercial, departmental and business imperatives.
• Mature, positive, level-headed and calm disposition.
• Confident, sociable and be able to hold their own when dealing with senior management.
