Role Responsibilities
Purpose

  • Focal point for all transversal CCIB E&A Non-Financial Risks (‘NFR”) issues and initiatives.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in identifying, evaluating, and optimising the impact of risk transformation initiatives on the first line ways of working.
Strategy
  • Provide coherent and consolidated status of pan CCIB EA and Ops level risk management issues at CCIBRC and higher committees.
  • Support CCIB CEO CCIB E&A for all NFR Group Committees and Regulatory engagements (CAM, PEM, Reg College).
  • Define, design and co-ordinate optimsation / transformation of Group NFR frameworks and process, using CCIB E&A to identify highest value issues to address and incubate solutions within CCIB prior to scaling.
  • Curate the strategic risk transformation design and impact across CCIB and CPBB businesses.
Processes
  • Act as delegate to CCIB Head of NFR, as required.
  • Drive 1LOD design of business risk appetite approach in alignment with Corporate Planning process, and embed into BAU process.
  • Provide direct support to CCIBMT and CCIB COO MT for all regulatory engagement.
  • Ensure that the impact of the risk transformation programmes on the first line processes and ways of working are adequately assessed and communicated.
  • Support the design, delivery and implementation of risk transformation workstreams and alignment with new ways or working (NWOW).
  • Drive productivity initiatives with 1 LOD risk management to realise additional savings.
  • Advise M7 teams on technology requirements required to streamline risk planning, alignment and oversight.
Risk Management
  • Provide CCIB MT and CCIB COO MT with timely and accurate intelligence on the NFR status of CCIB.
  • Ensure all parent (GRC, GNFRC) and peer (TTO NFRC, GPTRMC) committees’ purview of CCIBs Non-Financial Risks is timely, risk relevant and accurate.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the three lines of defence to understand the current gaps in the risk and control framework.
  • Leverage the Business and Function Risk Squads to integrate agile methodology into the risk productivity programme.
  • Evaluate the robustness of feedback loop between 1st / 2nd / 3rd LOD on risk management issues. Where weaknesses or gaps exist, recommend areas for improvement.
  • Curate and socialise best practice risk management across CCIB businesses.
Regulatory and Business Conduct
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Lead the project to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
Governance
  • Ensure all CCIB level governance committee information requirements are understood are adhered to.
  • Provide monthly governance updates to COO CCIB E&A on CCIBRC, GNFRC, TTO NFRC, GTPRMC and other committees as required.
  • Drive “Non-Financial Risk Check-in” agenda, and track outcomes to closure.
  • Lead CCIB Governance Bi-weekly best practice sharing sessions.
  • Attend relevant Business / Function risk committees, as required.
  • Support the business Governance and Controls teams to implement and embed risk and transformation initiatives.
People and Talent
  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set the appropriate tone and expectations for the team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
  • Employ, engage and retain high quality people and establish an appropriate team structure and capacity plans.
  • Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and recognition in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Degree Level Qualification
  • 10 plus years of experience in Control, Governance, and Risk Transformation, CCIB
  • Project Management Qualification (desirable)

Role Specific Technical Competencies
  • 2LOD of defence experience within SCB or peer institution.
  • Expert knowledge of Bank’s Control Framework and Committee Structure.
  • Advanced level of understanding of the Bank’s ERMF.
  • Understanding of external regulatory environment.
  • Excellent project management skills,
  • Adept at critical evaluation of complex concepts and verbose documents.
  • Robust written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient at influence across hierarchies and organisational silos.
  • Gravitas to challenge senior management and flag / tackle unpopular issues.
  • CCIB and CPBB organisational literacy - preferable.
  • Multi-cultural awareness. Proven success of working effectively with people of different backgrounds.
