Job Description


Role summary

Our client is seeking to employ a Head of Data (Statistics) to generate annual index rankings and results based on an existing conceptual and indicator framework, analyse the robustness of the results through a series of statistical tests, and apply statistical best practises for the quantitative research and data work required for the Index.

You will manage the data collection and treatment, construct composite indicators based on underlying metrics, perform necessary transformations on the data set, compile and report finalized results for the Index. Working with our stakeholders, advisors and experts, you will also validate the selection of data sources and statistical methods used to generate the results. You will also work closely with our designers to visualise statistical findings via engaging infographics and charts that will feed into the report and social media content.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with the Research Manager and Executive Director, acquire and download the required data set from public sources, clean data by using statistical techniques and ensure the data is of high-quality
  • Construct the Index from the quantitative data set and ensure accuracy in the necessary transformations and imputations
  • Perform statistical analysis to spot trends and detect relationships between the indicators and components of the Index. Conduct tests to determine the reliability and soundness of the Index (sensitivity tests like PCA, factor analysis, Cronbach’s alpha test etc.)
  • Assist in the assessment of potential new metrics and determine their suitability for use in the Index
  • Working with our designers and writers, develop engaging infographics and charts
  • Curriculum development (and delivery) for data-related training programmes for the organization.
Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, or equivalent master’s degree program with a focus on statistical methods
  • 2-4 years of experience in data analysis or quantitative research work or similar projects
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other statistical software programs, such as R or SPSS, or equivalent
  • Exceptional ability to interpret data and analyse trends
  • Keen attention to detail and meticulous
  • Strong project management skills, in areas such as constructing an Index and data gathering work so as to meet project deadlines with efficiency and accuracy
  • Good critical thinking and situational awareness skills to overcome challenges in data collection and interpretation process
  • Good interpersonal skills to communicate ideas in a clear way
