Special focus will be on systems combining smart materials based sensors and actuators with highly integrated electronics. One specific application direction will be the integration of the transducers technologies into systems like hoses, belts, tires or HMI surfaces to enable next generation intelligent system solutions. Responsibilities . Support the R&D of smart materials based new actuation and sensing technologies for automotive . Design, prototype and validate proof of concept for the developed transducer technologies . Coordination of prototypes (demo / visual parts) for first trials and / or presentation on tech-days . Be the lead expert of the team for the electronic aspects of the system (sensor readout, actuator driver) . Have a special interest on new sensor and actuator technologies - e.g. based on printed electronics or new material approaches . Trend scouting (recognize trends, derive search fields for ideas) with focus on technologies but also including explore new business opportunities for Continental, considering market needs and global trends (especially in Asia region) . Monitoring and documentation of project progress of individual topics Qualifications Requirements . Degree in mechanical engineering, physics, electronical engineering or equivalent . Advanced knowledge on front end electronics for sensors, driver for motor/actuators drivers and MCU programming . Mathematical modelling and simulation skills in the field of electromechanical transducers, e.g. Matlab, Simulink, Comsol, Ansys . Basic experience with vibrations and electrical measurements, Labview knowledge would be a plus . Knowledge in the field of automotive or industry application development - best in research for advanced sensor material, sensors & actuator technologies and/or printed electronics .
