Job Description


:Excellent opportunity for a commecial media and entertainment lawyer to join our client's Business and Legal Affairs team, providing business and legal affairs support as required by the various company business lines across the APAC region.You will be part of a talented and collegiate team of experienced commercial media lawyers working on broad range of matters in a dynamic and evolving sector.Professional Experience

  • Qualified lawyer (Singapore is preferable but China/US/UK/ANZ qualifications will be considered).
  • Ideally 2 to 5 years post qualification experience UK scale (3.5 to 7 years SG scale) in a reputable law firm and/or relevant business.
  • Relevant private practice and/or in house experience in content Distribution and Production from the Technology, Media, Telecoms and/or IP sectors with strong commercial/industry experience.
  • Experience and/or understanding of promoting risk management, compliance and sound corporate governance.
  • Experience in supporting commercial businesses in the region.
  • Understanding of the structures and systems within which broadcasters, producers, distributors (whether traditional or non-traditional e.g. digital) operate.
  • Knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework particularly in the region within which the business operates.
Knowledge & Skills
  • The position requires playing a trusted advisory role to the Sales, Operational and Corporate teams (Content and Branded Services Distribution (both linear and digital), Format Licensing & Production, Consumer Products & Merchandise Licensing, Live Events, Brand Partnerships, as well as Operations, Corporate Services and New Business Venture support) across South/South East Asia, North East Asia, Greater China and Australia.
  • Assists the Senior Legal Counsels and SVP Head of Legal and Business Affairs APAC, on legal matters, including planning, organising and managing of work activities across services/department.
  • Works with senior members of the BLA team to input into the development of junior members of the Business & Legal affairs teams.
  • Commercially aware with an understanding of the issues affecting the company and media and production industry generally.
  • A track record of providing proactive, specialist, timely and authoritative legal advice and support to senior leaders and key decision-makers at the highest levels.
  • Ability to undertake policy and advocacy work, including preparing and coordinating submissions on areas of law or policy that affect the company; and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of recent legal and policy developments in a specific area of law, and ensures that clients are aware of implications.
  • Plans and implements processes, tools and training to efficiently and effectively empower business teams to manage risk and structure and close deals.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and relevant legislation and regulation.
  • Supports dispute resolution processes and strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clarify complex issues and concepts for non-lawyers.
  • Ability to work supportively as a team member and to build and manage relationships at all levels.
  • Ability to manage diverse work streams and to apply complex analytical and problem-solving skills under pressure (including, showing initiative, commitment and flexibility when faced with obstacles).
  • Provides specialist legal support to major projects.
  • Ability to work across multiple time zones, territories and business lines.
  • Motivated to develop themselves and to contribute to knowledge sharing across the team.
