Role description: You will be the prime point of contact for the client and the client\xe2\x80\x99s consulting team, and will be
responsible for ensuring that appropriate standards of the design, development and customer satisfaction are achieved. He/she will take responsibility for key aspects of development or major issues. You will serve as the line of escalation for the client and project team for any
issues or concern that may arise during the project. In addition, you will carry out the prime design advisory role and manage the project team to
carry out all design activities and monitoring of the design delivery plan. You will lead the
telecommunications, network and security infrastructure discipline meetings pertaining, but not limited to, design, construction supervision, testing and commissioning. This is a people manager role, where you will be responsible for the performance of a small and talented team of Project and Enterprise Support Engineers. You\xe2\x80\x99ll be required to provide them guidance to manage projects, stakeholders to achieve the desired results, as well as to develop processes to drive continuous improvement, productivity and wellbeing of the team to achieve desired corporate outcomes. Responsibilities:
The Role covers across the entire lifecycle of the build as detailed below:
  • Schematic Design
  • Developed Design for Tender
  • Tender management
  • Construction management
  • Handover services/certifications
  • Defects liability management
Below list the high-level responsibilities of each phase. Schematic Design:
  • Confirm the design brief for telecommunications and network infrastructure services.
  • Liaise with all other consultants to incorporate the relevant requirements and to provide an integrated design.
  • Liaise with design team on locations and spaces for plant and the combined services routing of all structured cable installations.
  • Assist the Quantity Surveyor to prepare the project master cost plan and cash flow.
Developed Design for tender
  • Produce a cost-effective detail design satisfying the client\xe2\x80\x99s needs, budget and obtain the Client\xe2\x80\x99s acceptance.
  • Prepare the detailed design drawings, specifications, and detailed design report.
  • Prepare the design for the mock-ups identified.
  • Liaise with design team on locations and spaces for the installation of cabling, rack deployments, cable basket, pipping, trunking, ducting, and the combined services routing of all E&M, acoustic and security installations
  • Advise on modifications in design to maintain budgetary limits.
Tender management
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager in preparing and implementing special management and/or control procedures during the contract document/tendering and the construction work stages.
  • Agree with the Project Manager the extent of the tender drawings and specifications, and the proposed scope and demarcation of each contract/sub-contract.
  • Collaborate with the design team and prepare telecommunications and network infrastructure services drawings to ensure that the telecommunications and network infrastructure services installations are properly coordinated.
  • Assist the Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor on tender issue, selection and award process.
Construction management
  • Coordinate with all contractors to enable them to prepare their drawings, models, material.
  • Submission, and method statements for installations.
  • Resolve queries relating to the telecommunications and network infrastructure services designs.
  • Examine and comment to the Project Manager on the staff proposals made by the contractors and sub-contractors of various work packages, the overall construction programme, and the proposals for delivery, storage, and installation of the equipment.
  • Comment and approve all contractor\xe2\x80\x99s submissions for the execution of the telecommunications and network infrastructure service installations and advise comments to the contractors as necessary.
  • Advise the Quantity Surveyor on the working progress and work in collaboration with them, inform the Employer as required on interim valuations prepared by each contractor including materials on the site.
  • Advise the Project Manager of the start of the testing & commissioning programme and the forecast completion date, at least one month in advance in each case.
  • Witness and approve all testing and commissioning processes and inspect all telecommunications and network infrastructure and security services installations included in the commission to ensure compliance with design and specifications and implementation.
  • Arrange and liaise with the relevant government departments to inspect and witness the statutory tests of the services installations as required by the ordinances and regulations etc.
  • Issue defect lists for all contractors/subcontractors.
  • Comment and approve as-built drawings and operation and maintenance manuals, calculations, test report and certificates etc. by each contractor.
Handover services/certifications & Defects liability management
  • Ensure all defects are rectified in accordance with the works contracts condition and all outstanding works are completed in accordance with the agreed timing and to the standard as set out in the contracts.
  • Assist the Quantity Surveyor on the settlement of the contractors\xe2\x80\x99 final accounts.
  • Ascertainment of each claim submitted by the contractor(s) and assist in claims settlement.
  • Monitor and inspect defect rectification by each contractor during the Defects Liability Period (24-month period following the project practical completion).
  • Monitor the operation of all services installation and instruct the contractors to make necessary adjustments to the installations during defects liability period and arrange the contractors to carry out repairs and remedial work on defects which have been found during hand over inspections and the defects liability period.
  • On the expiration of the defect\xe2\x80\x99s liability period, ensure that all works installed contractor have been completed satisfactorily under the terms of the contracts.
Technical Requirements/Experience:
  • Minimum 10 years in the IT & Telecom Experience
  • Minimum 3 years in IT infrastructure consulting
  • Minimum 5 years in IT infrastructure project management
  • Minimum 5 years in data center build environment
  • Minimum 5 years in a people management role
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in engineering or IT related field
  • Data Center design certification will be an advantage, example, CDCDP
  • Certified in Structured Cabling System and Design and RCDD will be an added advantage
  • Minimally CCNA and CCNP will be an advantage
  • PMP / Prince 2 certified will be an advantage
  • Maintaining your qualification by staying up to date with changes in the industry and having an understanding of relevant software, such as AutoCAD will be beneficial to succeeding in this job.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
Others:
  • Working hours from Monday through Friday 8:30am to 6:00pm.
  • Ability to provide support during and outside regular business hours is required
