What the role is:This position is within the School of Humanities & Social Sciences.What you will be working on:The primary role is to design, develop, conduct, facilitate and review language and communications programmes for targeted groups, including face-to-face as well as online instruction and interaction. Responsibilities also include functional duties such as student development, event management and other training/publicity/administrative work, where applicable. Specific duties include and are not limited to: - Develop and conduct language and communication lessons for Pre-Employment Training (PET) and Continuing Education and Training (CET) learners. - Develop and conduct National Education and Life Skills module for PET learners. - Conduct learning needs analysis to identify areas for improvement and tailor educational content accordingly. - Develop online learning packages, language proficiency tests and appropriate self-directed learning materials. - Conduct research study on current educational trend to ensure the curriculum remains relevant and effective. - Integrate educational technologies such as generative AI tools to enhance the teaching and learning experience. - Employ effective teaching practices to ensure positive learning outcomes. This includes good classroom management and adapting teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs of the students. - Conduct data analysis on the student learning profile and learning needs to implement relevant intervention strategy/ies when necessary. - Provide pastoral care and support to full-time students, fostering a supportive and conducive learning environment. - Engage and support student development activities as well as enhancing learning through field trips and programmes both locally and overseas. - Support the Centre in orientation, outreach, and other Centre, School, or Polytechnic-level committee work.What we are looking for:- Tertiary qualification in related field (such as English Language, Literature, Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Mass Communication, Technical Writing, Education, Art & Social Sciences etc.). - Teaching experience is preferred, but not required. - Experience in quantitative and qualitative data analysis is preferred, but not required. - Ability to lead and facilitate discussions, mediate different opinions and evaluate reasoning. - A passion to share knowledge and facilitate learning. - Genuine interest to interact with youths. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and familiarity with new media. - Ability to work effectively to lead or as part of a team and demonstrate good teamwork skills.About Temasek Polytechnic:Established in 1990, Temasek Polytechnic (TP) is a leading institution of high learning nestled by the idyllic shores of Bedok Reservoir in Tampines.
