Overview of the role


As part of a high-performing team of lawyers in London and Hong Kong, your role will be to provide proactive and commercial legal advice and assistance which result in effective solutions within acceptable levels of risk.

As part of a team of product lawyers, your primary role will be to provide legal support in relation to the registration of funds in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan, working with external counsel as required. You will also provide support to our APAC domiciled fund ranges.


You will work closely with the relevant business teams either independently or together with others across the wider legal team in the UK and Hong Kong.


Duties and responsibilities


You will:

  • Draft documentation including local fund supplements, shareholder notifications and supporting application forms for EMEA domiciled funds (with support from the London legal team and external counsel as required);
  • Partner with the business- gathering information and managing and processing comments from multiple stakeholders;
  • Co-ordinate responses to queries from regulators in relation to fund applications;
  • Draft documentation including offering documents for funds domiciled in APAC, working closely with colleagues in London and with external counsel;
  • Analyse regulation and assist in the implementation of resulting changes to fund documentation, working closely with other functions;
  • Advise the business in relation to the application of regulation to products;
  • Ensure that prospectuses and related fund documentation are properly maintained and updated; and
  • Ensure that local prospectus supplements are prepared and translated as required.

Technical skills and qualifications

  • Law degree
  • Newly qualified to 3 years PQE is preferable
  • Financial qualifications desirable
  • Knowledge of ESG investing desirable

  • Completion of all assigned compliance training


Compliance requirements

At a minimum the role will require you to:
  • Place the interest of Janus Henderson’s Clients first, act in accordance with TCF (Treating Customers Fairly) principles
  • Understand and follow laws and regulations applicable for your role, seeking the help of your supervising manager or Compliance if additional guidance is required
  • Understand and abide by all Janus Henderson policies applicable to your role, and seek support/guidance of the policy owner guidance when required
  • You are ultimately accountable for your actions and responsible for seeking further information on any or all of the above as necessary.
