KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Build and maintain robust data infrastructure for use by the Quantitative Strategies (QS) group as well as other quant teams.
  • Ensure that the quant data infrastructure and related processes are consistent with best practices and adhere to internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Continuously improve the individual productivity of all quant team members by identifying and automating manually intensive operations.
  • Drive improvements in productivity and robustness of workflows of the quant teams by automating, stabilizing, and streamlining its workflows
  • Source data internally and from external vendors as required
  • Maintain documentation and guides for the benefit of all quant team members and for audit requirements.
  • Promote best practices in relation to all forms of development activities across the quant teams including coding styles, patterns, documentation and version management.

THE CANDIDATE
  • The candidate should ideally have several years of quality work experience attained within an asset management or banking environment.
  • The candidate should be a highly motivated and versatile professional who possesses the initiative and wide array of skills to solve tactical and strategic technical problems to complete various project tasks associated with the role.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are expected as is the ability to work and develop software alongside strong academic oriented quants/researchers.
  • Success in the role depends upon the candidate’s ability to build, maintain and support a robust data infrastructure, ultimately supporting the increasing number of funds handled by the QS group.

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS
  • Strong academic degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • At least 3 years experience in the Finance industry. Specific experience within an asset management environment a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of Python or R, and SQL. Experience of C++, Java and C# will be considered as a plus.
  • Strong desire to automate and ensure robustness of processes, and to provide support through fault diagnosis and incident management.
  • Ability to design, create and maintain databases and stored procedures, and work with large volumes of data.
  • Experience of working with market vendor’s API’s and SFTP sites a plus.
  • Understanding of basic investment management principles and financial concepts.
  • Good experience of SDLC, working with source control software, testing approaches and deployments through Jenkins an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and deliver robust solutions on time.
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively within the team with both Quants and IT/Enterprise Data teams.
  • Working knowledge of machine learning and data visualization techniques a plus.
  • Experience of working within a cloud architecture an advantage.
