YOUR CHALLENGE

GENERAL DESCRIPTION The NRI Product Specialist is member of the Investment Specialists Asia team and shall endeavour to fulfil the ambitions defined and outlined for the coverage of Global NRI clients by Head Investment Specialists APAC. He/she shall ensure active risk management and meet all regulatory and internal compliance expectations relating to the role. The incumbent shall select/identify equity, fixed income, funds, structured product and FX ideas that are relevant for the NRI clients globally, with an end-to-end lens and a focus on broad client impact and positive investment returns. He/she shall provide regular updates and active lifecycle management on such recommendations. Further, he/she shall support/participate in client outreach events, internal meetings as well as internal sales initiatives. The incumbent shall also build highly effective relationships across the Bank to maintain and improve knowledge of the business and its latest products and services to optimise service to clients. The NRI Product Specialist reports to Head Investment Specialists APAC. KEY FEATURES OF THE POSITION People Management

  • Motivate and provide guidance/feedback to other team members to improve overall performance
Client Management (internal & external)
  • Select/identify equity, fixed income, funds, structured product and FX product ideas with an end-to-end lens and a focus on broad client impact and positive investment returns
  • Work closely for the specific asset class product specialist teams and be in touch with external counterparties to help in product selection, in line with Research views and with buy-in of the specific asset class specialist teams
  • Regular publication/communication on market updates and high conviction cross asset ideas and themes to the Global NRI RMs
  • Screen client books and provide Holding Based Activities (HBA) recommendations accordingly
  • Support/participate in client outreach events (i.e. Market Outlook seminars) and internal meetings/sales initiatives (i.e. Morning Meetings)
  • Conduct portfolio reviews for clients if/where required
  • Regular consultation with NRI Front representatives to be kept updated of clients’ needs/demands and take appropriate measures to fulfil them, where relevant
  • Support NRI Relationship Managers in Client meetings
Business Management
  • Work to fulfil the ambitions of the team defined by Head Investment Specialists Asia
  • Regular review of the function’s practices to ensure efficiency and productivity at kept at optimal levels
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Meet all legal, regulatory and compliance standards/requirements
  • Adhere to all relevant Local User Manuals
  • Regular assessment of the function’s practices to mitigate associated risks arising out of and relating to the said function
  • Ensure appropriate ethical and compliant behaviour within the function by clear demonstration of appropriate values and behaviours including but not limited to standards on honesty and integrity, due care and diligence, fair dealing (treating customers fairly), management of conflicts of interest, competence and continuous development, adequate risk management, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations

Professional and Technical
  • Relevant higher educational and professional background with 10-15 years of relevant working experience as an Equities Specialist, preferably in a private bank
  • In-depth knowledge on the NRI market, as well as knowledge and experience covering equities, fixed income, funds, SP and FX from perspective of this client base
  • Good command of financial analytics skills
  • Represent the Bank’s and shareholders’ interests at all times
  • Ability to provide advisory to the business
  • Strong commercial judgement, business acumen and broad understanding of the financial market and products
Regulatory
  • Familiar with regulatory expectations and requirements
  • Compliance with Cross border rules and regulations
  • CACS Papers 1 and 2
  • CMFAS Module 1B, 3, 5, 6A
