• Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) required in Electrical Engineering • Sound understanding of different Electrical Bus bar schemes and Substation layouts • Sound understanding of local grid codes, grid connectivity procedures, grid application procedures, standards of performance of Distribution / Transmission Utilities • 7+ years of experience with strong execution capabilities in developing and delivering MV/HV Power infrastructure projects in a planning or project management role • Experience collaborating with external and internal stakeholders to drive projects.

Job summary
Amazon is looking for a results-oriented energy projects manager to join the AWS Energy Team. In this role, you will be responsible to program manage & deliver large scale critical HV(&gt66kV) power infrastructure projects for AWS data centers in South East Asia (SEA). The ideal candidate for this role will have high-level technical understanding of HV substation projects including transmission infrastructure and experience in delivering substation projects from design to energization. The candidate must be able to manage multiple large-scale power infrastructure projects across different countries. The candidate will also be required to evaluate data center sites & develop power infrastructure strategies to serve those sites. The candidate will work with internal & external stakeholders viz engineering, real estate, planning teams, government utilities, contractors, design consultants etc to deliver his/her responsibilities.

This role is based out of Singapore. 25% travel may be required.



Key job responsibilities

• Manage transmission & distribution electricity utilities, project management consultants, right of way (easements), substation contractors and owner's engineers for transmission works & substations to deliver MV & HV power infrastructure on time, on budget and to specifications.
• Manage and co-ordinate with internal stakeholders viz. Planning, Real estate, Design, Procurement, Construction, Operations & Commissioning teams
• Managing Utility Contracts/retail agreements – Entering into connection agreement, Contracting the right capacity to optimize on power purchase costs
• Due Diligence of new Data Center sites to check Power availability for new sites; Study understand and have view on Power Infrastructure planning by Transmission / Distribution Utility; Cost & timelines for extension of power infrastructure projects to sites.
• Monitoring of Power Infrastructure reliability indices SAIFI/SAIDI and take corrective action by working with Operations, Power Utilities to improve the same.
• Develop and execute energy strategies that leverage capital projects (utility grid connections, high voltage substations, energy storage, etc) to reduce long term energy costs.
• Identify and develop innovative cost savings projects and initiatives related to Power Infrastructure and supply.
• Work with utility regulators to develop policies and guidelines that enable broader AWS strategies and objectives.

• Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred • Experience planning, engineering, developing or constructing substations or other 33kV or greater energy infrastructure • Substation operations experience • Experience working directly with public utility commissions and other energy regulators • Experience with IT infrastructure, data centers and cloud services • Experience successfully negotiating new tariff rates, power purchase agreements and/or energy infrastructure contracts in regulatory regimes.
