Engine Life Management Team (ELMT) Asia Pacific Team, Aftermarket & Sustainment Engineering (ASE) at Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Surface Treatment Subject Matter Expert role to join our team in support of Technology Development and Industrialization within the Aftermarket Operations Technology Accelerator in this newly created role in the Technology Team. The ASE Technology Team works to develop and implement Technology strategies in the Aftermarket Operations Asia Pacific (AMO APAC) organization. This is an advanced engineering and team lead role impacting the long-term growth and technology transformation of the business, efficiency of our operations, and critical business processes. You will report directly under the Engine Life Management Team APAC (ELMT-APAC) and work functionally for the ASE Technology Team in support of the Aftermarket Operations APAC Business units. You will work closely with the respective business Technology Focal at all regional locations comprised of CAS, ESA, PWCS, TOS (Singapore), CHEC (Christchurch) and SEC (Shanghai) to lead and execute Technology and Transformation initiatives. Our team members are primarily located in Singapore but we work with the Pratt & Whitney enterprise across the world. We conduct studies, benchmark competitors, and develop and implement technologies, filling technical gaps.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as Special Processes expert for Chemical Processing, Surface Protection Methods, and media finishing to develop and deploy applications based on Aftermarket Operation’s needs.
  • Maintain production processes in the Tech Accelerator lab related to special processes including; Chemical Processing, Surface Finishing, Cleaning and Painting such as work instructions, quality notifications, and related process improvements and compliance.
  • Develops surface treatments standards and processes that apply statistical process control to ensure compliance and optimal performance, including Key Characteristics and Key Process Inputs.
  • Apply basic Lean and 6 sigma tools including value stream mapping, standardized work, statistical capability and ANOVA analysis .
  • Designs and develops manufacturing processes for products, taking into consideration problems inherent in the transfer of technology from research to manufacturing; Such design and development may include new or revised processes.
  • Develops procedures for the economical and efficient production in cooperation with production departments and NADCAP compliance.
  • Conducts tests and measurements throughout stages of production to determine control over applicable variables; and services, troubleshoots and solves production process problems with processes or equipment already in operation.
  • Reviews field support requirements and recommends tools and test equipment..
  • Make recommendations concerning acquisition and use of new technological equipment and materials.
  • Process new Capital Equipment, such as writing capital funding requests, Statement of Work & Validation requirements; interface with vendors.
  • Must have the ability to work with cross functionally with operations, maintenance, quality and design engineering to implement robust processes.
  • Lead the development and testing processing proof of concepts for surface treatment technologies.
  • Design and build prototypes, products and systems to perform integration tests, process validation and quality control.
  • Represent ASE (ELMT-APAC & Technology Team) to establish comprehensive technology strategy relating to Surface Treatment to support the AMO Technology deployment goals.
  • Work collaboratively with other technology focals and process experts within Pratt and Whitney and our supply base.
  • Support a safety-first work culture that exceeds safety performance goals and strives towards zero injuries.
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable RTX and Pratt & Whitney policies and procedures including individual employee awareness of responsibility and accountability.
  • Demonstrate awareness of the businesses competitive position in relation to the representative marketplace, including macro factors and trends which influence overall business operations and execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or in related fields with at least 5 years of prior relevant experience
  • Experience in CAD software, Lean 6sigma
  • NADCAP, AS9100, ISO auditing experience
  • Demonstrated experience in motivating, training, developing and influencing people
  • Strong planning, organization and time management skills
  • Strong leadership skills, critical thinking skills, business discernment, and ability to innovate
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills
  • Technical knowledge of Pratt & Whitney’s Engines Repair, PW Repair Centers, and PW Engine Services business is helpful
