We have an opening for a highly motivated engineer to support Additive Manufacturing capability development in SIT. This position will be posted to the NAMIC hub@SIT (one of the innovation centres under the SIT Innohub). He/she reports to the Hub Manager to support various AM activities. This position provides skills in industrial design, fabrication and prototyping, and to support for research and industry projects. The engineer is to demonstrate responsibility and taking up ownership for studying and identifying industry\'s AM needs as well as opportunities and mapping them to existing hub\'s programs or initiate new programs to address gaps.Responsibilities
The responsibilities include but not limited to:
1. Provides industrial / mechanical design expertise; works closely with computational research designers and manufacturing engineers.
2. Carries out engineering analysis and design for manufacturability and engineering performance, particularly using additive manufacturing.
3. Provides expertise for fabrication and prototyping using commercial and in-house developed fabrication equipment.
4. Assists in the development of proposals for collaborative projects with industry and academic partners that are additive manufacturing related.
5. Support the development and execution of different Additive Manufacturing program offerings.
6. Prepare communication contents for presentation.
7. Support the development of proficiency testing programs to help organizations satisfy accreditation requirements using established and published international standards.
8. Support conducting landscape analysis of specific topics and identify gaps and needs.Required/Desired Skills:
1. Expertise with CAD software (e.g. Solidworks, CREO, Autocad, or open-source ones), and design for additive manufacturing.
2. Experience with relevant hardware and software for computer-controlled fabrication (e.g., 3D printers, and laser scanners), materials and component characterization is required.
3. Experience with product prototyping and development.
4. An interest in, and relevant competencies in any or more of the following: finite element analysis, mechanical design and fabrication, mechanical testing, characterisation of mechanical behaviour of materials.
5. Strong analytical skills combined with a hands-on approach.
6. Comfortable with both simulation and experimental techniques.
7. A high degree of initiative and able to work independently but closely with other members of a multi-disciplinary team which includes the industry and government agenciesThis position must be resourceful, proactive and results-oriented. The position has to take initiative to productively engage across many research projects and add value. A positive attitude, and the ability to present and communicate well with all types of stakeholders will be essential.Requirements
