We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Purchaser to join our procurement team. The Purchaser will play a critical role in sourcing, purchasing, and managing materials and supplies necessary for construction projects. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of construction materials, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to ensure timely procurement while adhering to budgetary constraints.
Key Responsibilities:
Sourcing and Procurement:
Identify, evaluate, and select vendors and suppliers based on quality, cost-effectiveness, reliability, and delivery speed.
Negotiation:
Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors to secure favorable terms and pricing agreements.
Purchase Order Management:
Create and issue purchase orders (POs) and ensure accurate documentation and compliance with company policies and procedures.
Inventory Management:
Monitor inventory levels, track usage, and forecast future material needs to prevent shortages and ensure timely availability of materials on site.
Supplier Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure ongoing collaboration, resolve issues promptly, and optimize procurement processes.
Cost Control:
Work closely with project directors, project managers and accounting to monitor and control project procurement costs within budgetary constraints.
Quality Assurance:
Verify materials received meet specified quality standards and escalate any discrepancies or issues to appropriate stakeholders.
Compliance:
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, safety standards, and company policies throughout the procurement process.
Qualifications:
10 years of experience as a Purchaser in the construction industry.
Proven track record of successfully managing procurement processes for construction projects, including sourcing, negotiation, and contract management.
Strong understanding of construction materials, equipment, and supply chain management practices.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
* Certification in purchasing or supply chain management is a plus.
