JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Reference Data Tech & Operations Analyst ("The Analyst") to be part of the APAC InvesTech Group. The Analyst will fill a strong hands-on role and play a key part in delivering solutions to our business partners, solve complex problems, and strive to advance and sustain a world-class platform. Having excellent analytical skills and financial data domain expertise is key to contribute to this hybrid role as a developer and analyst.

This functional role is part of the Portfolio Operations APAC team. Portfolio Operations is a multi-disciplinary team who deliver across the suite of Enterprise Data Services, and Client & Portfolio Technology & Operations. Members of this team are required to broaden their understanding beyond their core function enabling them to connect dots across the region to assist various stakeholders effectively. This includes remaining flexible with their own job responsibilities to help define and evolve roles within the region team.




RESPONSIBILITIES

From an Operations perspective:

  • Assist in the creation of securities, as requested by Investors and Trading
  • Timely, accurate, and thorough support of complex and routine reference data inquiries
  • Identify key reference data and client permissibility language in official source documentation (offering documents/Prospectus)
  • Identification, ownership, and resolution of business and systems issues through interaction with IT, data vendors, brokers, and internal clients
  • Build a strong understanding of data flows and systems utilization of security master file data
  • Execute daily validation and initiation procedures, ensuring the integrity and consistency of data across multiple platforms
  • Work closely with colleagues in the UK and Boston to field queries and handoff work across regions in an effort to provide uninterrupted global coverage
  • Work closely with Portfolio Data management team, Portfolio Management, Investment Compliance, Trading, and Legal to understand new security purchases and validate client permissibility and regulatory restrictions.
From a Reference Data Tech perspective:
  • Deliver robust, agile capability for external data on-boarding needs across the firm, with strong yet practical design considerations toward effective data governance and best-in-class data consumer experience
  • Interact with internal business stakeholders and external data vendors around full data life cycle in a dual capacity of developer and analyst, continuously evolving data platform from operational and engineering perspective
  • Responsible for data pipeline operational efficiency and production quality. This means regular monitoring of workflow to detect functional and technical gap for continuous improvement
  • Proactively identify opportunities for new and improved technology tools and capabilities to enhance the investment data process
  • Provide hands-on implementation of process improvements involving internal and external data pipeline, investment data process efficiency, and simplifying investment data workflow
  • Understand key business challenges and opportunities in the industry and data space
  • Originate ideas on how systems can help in areas such as investment data quality and enterprise data governance
  • Manage and coordinate efforts across teams consisting of business users, developers, analysts, and QA
  • Ensure smooth delivery of critical system functionalities
QUALIFICATIONS
  • The candidate must be highly knowledgeable of security master file and data integrity processes in addition to experience working with vendor products and technology
  • Experience in communicating with Trading/Front Office teams
  • Experience as a software developer or system analyst supporting complex, data intensive application development life cycles is preferred Be proficient in at least one the
  • computer languages: JavaScript, Python, Java, SQL, Scala
  • Must have adequate understanding of system design and software development principles and methodologies
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, both written and verbal are required
  • Strongly prefer experience and knowledge in modern data pipeline stacks, e.g., Spark, Airflow, Fivetran, dbt, Snowflake
  • Comfortable with test driven development, continuous integration, metadata driven software, and agile development methodologies
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in computer science, mathematics, finance, engineering, or related field is highly desired
  • Exhibits a proactive nature and approach to learning, problem identification and problem resolution
  • Thoroughness, attention to detail and the ability to think and work independently and within a team environment
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, problem solving and multi-tasking skills
