RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Model Development:
    • The post-doc will be responsible for the development of models using game theory, mathematical programming, and Operations Management models and simulations. They will need to effectively apply these tools to complex problems in the field and interpret the results in meaningful ways. Familiarity with state-of-the-art modelling software and simulation techniques will be required.
  • Data Analysis:
    • The post-doc will carry out comprehensive data analysis, using statistical programming languages such as R and Python. This includes data cleaning, exploration, manipulation, visualization, and interpretation to derive actionable insights. Proficiency in handling large datasets and applying advanced analytical methodologies is expected.
  • Research Paper Writing and Editing:
    • A significant part of the post-doc\'s role will involve writing research papers for publication in reputable journals. They will also need to contribute to the editing process to ensure the clarity, accuracy, and overall quality of the research output. This includes literature review, methodology documentation, results presentation, and discussion write-up.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • The post-doc will work closely with the project lead, contributing to the strategic direction of the research, sharing progress regularly, and actively participating in team meetings and discussions. They must demonstrate strong communication skills to effectively convey complex concepts and findings.
  • Keeping Abreast of Field Developments:
    • It is expected that the post-doc stays informed about the latest developments, trends, and methodologies in Operations Management. Regular participation in seminars, workshops, and conferences is encouraged to promote continual learning and growth.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Educational Background:
    • A Ph.D. in Operations Management or a related discipline is required. A strong theoretical and practical understanding of Operations Management principles and methodologies is essential.
  • Research Experience:
    • Candidates must have substantial experience in research involving game theory and mathematical programming applications in Operations Management. Previous involvement in a similar capacity on research projects is highly desirable.
  • Publication Record:
    • Candidates should have experience in submitting and ideally publishing papers in Operations Management journals. They should be familiar with the submission, revision, and publication process.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Proficiency in using statistical programming languages such as R and Python is a must. Experience in data cleaning, analysis, visualization, and interpretation using these tools is required. Candidates should also be adept at using mathematical programming and simulation software relevant to Operations Management.
  • Modeling Skills:
    • Demonstrated ability to develop robust models using game theory, mathematical programming, and Operations Management models and simulations is required. Candidates should be comfortable interpreting and presenting modeling results.
  • Communication Skills:
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills are vital. Candidates must be able to effectively document their research, write and edit papers, and communicate complex concepts and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving:
    • Candidates should possess strong analytical skills, including the ability to think critically, solve complex problems, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Continual Learning:
    • The ability and willingness to stay up-to-date with the latest developments, trends, and methodologies in Operations Management is highly desirable. This includes active participation in relevant seminars, workshops, and conferences.
