Job Description




The Deputy Team Lead of BTC Finance Shared Service supports the BTC Finance Shared Services functions including the smooth closing of financial-year and ensuring the smooth running of the day-to-day Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Asset, and Tax functions. Job function also includes ensuring compliance with the relevant policies and provides advice to the team and stakeholders.

The primary responsibilities of the Deputy Team Lead are:

Service Level Agreement (SLA)
Lead the BTC Finance Shared Services (SS) team in meeting the NUS SLA for

  • Accounts payable: Vendor invoices, request-for-payment (RFP), CONCUR
  • Corporate billing program: Central Travel Account (CTA), Corporate Travel Card (CTC), and Corporate Purchasing Card (CPC)
  • Accounts receivable: Customer billing requests, receipting and banking, aging reviews
  • Taxation: Withholding tax, GST reverse charging
  • Accounting adjustments: Journals
  • Verify all cash-related collection within the stipulated SLA
  • Ensure all cash related to bank-in complies with NUS policy and guidelines.
Other Duties
  • Review bi-monthly outstanding purchase orders for submission to Office of Finance (OFN)
  • Ensure compliance to period-end closing and risk control matrix framework
  • Ensure compliance to timeline per Workplan/dashboard
  • Lead, coach, and motivate SS team members
  • Advice to cluster departments and the team in accordance with NUS guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Lead cluster departments and the team to put the new financial guidelines, policies, and procedures in context
  • Present to stakeholders when required
  • Assist in any other accounting-related functions and reporting requirements
  • Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned from time to time
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of working experience, in Shared Services Team
  • Working experience with Institute of Higher Learning/education/government sectors is an advantage
  • Ability to set priorities, complete work with minimal supervision, and meet deadlines
  • Thrive in problem-solving
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Diplomatic in handling internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven track record in building strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at various levels
  • Developed accounting skills are essential
  • High level of proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Good working knowledge of SAP S4Hana is an added advantage
  • Experience in managing multiple priorities and stakeholders in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Meticulous with a strong analytical mind and ability to work under pressure to meet tight schedules
  • Track record of transforming, developing and managing a high-performing team
  • Excellent team player who demonstrates flexibility and embraces collaboration
