The purpose of the role is to maintain and promote industrial harmony and labour management relations (LMR) for socio-economic well-being of Singapore. This is achieved by providing effective and efficient advisory, conciliation services to resolve trade disputes, and adopting a high-touch engagement strategy to detect and resolve issues upstream. The role is also to build and strengthen the trust and relationships between companies and trade unions.What you will be working on:You are expected to take on individual cases, or as part of a team to facilitate and manage LMR between unions and companies. Your responsibilities include the following: \xe2\x80\xa2 Offer advice and guidance to parties based on knowledge of the employment legislations, industrial norms, tripartite guidelines/advisories, best employment practices and industrial relations norms \xe2\x80\xa2 Adopt an outcome-based approach in managing trade disputes, taking into consideration the interests of the parties and the industry practices, and to ensure disputes are dealt with in a holistic manner \xe2\x80\xa2 Lead the incident management of high-profile cases across different departments to effectively manage and resolve the case \xe2\x80\xa2 Build and deepen trust and relationship with union/PWA leaders and HR practitioners through informal one-on-one engagements or industry events. \xe2\x80\xa2 Gather ground sensing on employment and industrial issues for appropriate early intervention and policy formulation \xe2\x80\xa2 Be appointed as the Assistant Commissioner for Labour (ACL) who will perform the regulatory function of processing and resolution of a recognition claim, including advisory to unions and companies on their legal rights and obligations relating to the process of recognition \xe2\x80\xa2 Any other assigned duties/projects, which may include tripartism or LMR in new unionised sectors, or other projectsWhat we are looking for:The ideal candidate should have: \xe2\x80\xa2 At least 3 years\' working experience in the field of industrial relations, human resources, and/or application of the Employment Act. \xe2\x80\xa2 Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills \xe2\x80\xa2 Knowledge of conciliation/arbitration principles and conflict management skills. \xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to exercise sound judgment and think on the feet during the dispute resolution process. \xe2\x80\xa2 Able to act rationally in stressful and emotional situations and focus on substantive issue to settle disputes \xe2\x80\xa2 Good EQ and interpersonal skills \xe2\x80\xa2 Strong writing and presentation skills \xe2\x80\xa2 Basic knowledge of financial and accounting matters * PWDs are welcome to apply.About Ministry of Manpower:The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) aims to develop a productive workforce and progressive workplaces, for Singaporeans to have better jobs and a secure retirement.
