What you will be working on:This is the right role for you if you are passionate about improving the lives of Singaporeans by strengthening workplace protections for workers, while balancing this with the need to support a thriving business environment so that we can continue to grow good jobs. You will be responsible for developing policies and driving the implementation of labour standards and employment laws, to make every workplace in Singapore a good workplace. Some issues that the team is working on include legislation to tackle workplace discrimination, enhancing protections for platform workers, and reviewing our main labour laws such as the Employment Act. The team also develops policy tools other than legislation to shape workplace norms, for example Alliances for Action and Tripartite Standards. In this role, you will need strong critical thinking and systems thinking skills, and the ability to see the bigger picture and assess the trade-offs that need to be made for different policy options. You will also have the opportunity to engage and work with a wide range of stakeholders, such as unions, employer associations, NGOs, as well as other teams within MOM that are responsible for operations, enforcement, outreach, communications, and research. Through these engagements, you will gain a better appreciation of the complexities of policymaking and policy implementation. You will also have regular opportunities to work with senior policy makers and political office holders. The ability to learn and thrive in a fast-paced environment and to communicate your ideas clearly and convincingly will put you in good stead to make an impact on policies that shape the lives of millions of Singaporeans.What we are looking for:
