Job Description


The Sr. Project Controller is responsible for ensuring proper project information and correct accounting for revenue recognition across the AIS Singapore projects portfolio. Good business acumen, attention to detail as well as a thorough understanding of risk management and accounting principles relating to recognition of revenue and costs are all essential. This is a business facing role where the job holder interacts regularly with commercial operations in a finance business partner capacity (challenge and build) and adds value to commercial decision making. The Sr. Project Controller is a highly visible role, and so the job holder must be comfortable working across all levels of the business, including senior management.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Create / set up / manage project structure in ERP (D365)Checking and analysing of project data extracted from ERP and ensuring correct revenue recognition (POC%, cost, revenues, WIP, backlog, foreseeable losses)
  • Conduct monthly Project Reviews with Project Managers to discuss project financials, billings projection and updated forecasts with challenge and build discussions
  • Preparation of scenario analysis to assist Project Managers and Leadership in making decisions
  • Monitoring of missing timesheets during month end closing
  • Monitoring of monthly compliance of project reviews submission by Project Managers
  • Preparation and analysis of data and management reports (monthly rolling revenue forecast, monthly pre and post close results for the respective business units and any other ad-hoc reporting)
  • Managing of opportunity and risk schedule across AIS Singapore projects portfolio (ex-gratia / variation orders / potential omissions)
  • Participating in annual cost rate changes for AIS Singapore in D365 and analysing the P&L impact
  • Variance analysis of estimate vs. actual comparisons.
  • Manage project finance related electronic filing processes and systems
  • Coordination of accounts receivable / billing with good understanding of tax and legal requirements related to billing (GST, VAT, WHT, etc)
  • Client profitability analysis
  • Participate in risk management and risk mitigation activities including internal and external audits
  • Realizing efficiency and improvement in project finance and administration
Personal skills
  • Works autonomously and any supervising activities that were delegated.
  • Is the first point of contact for the technical/project organization and deals with financial/administrative problems with clients and project managers (all stakeholders)
Complexity
  • Project controllership of complex and big projects
  • Analysis of results, defining causes of deviations and advising on course correcting actions is an essential part of the job
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • CA/ACCA/CPA/CIMA accounting qualification
  • More than 5 years\' experience in project accounting and/or revenue accounting
  • Ability to partner with and challenge business partners
  • Excellent understanding of relevant IFRS and local GAAP
  • Strong experience working with an ERP such as Oracle, SAP, MS Dynamics
  • Knowledge of project management/ working within projects and project steering methods
  • Risk management and internal controls experience
  • Good communicative and social capabilities
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with Dynamics 365
  • Audit background is an advantage
  • Knowledge of US GAAP
