Job Summary:

This role involves property underwriting for large multinational, complex or specialist cases in the South East Asia and Australia market, within the agreed processes and risk appetite to achieve business development and retention targets. You will spend the majority of your time delivering underwriting decisions, contributing to business development activities and liaising with customers. You will deal with customers, brokers, network partners (as required) and third parties, working with other colleagues and be part of a team. You will have strong analytical, relationship management and communication skills.

Job Duties and Competencies:

• Reviewing allocated large, complex or specialist cases and delivering underwriting decisions, following agreed processes at the designated authority level, in order to secure profitable business within the agreed risk appetite, for both direct multinational and reinsurance business.
• Identifying, recommending and leading or contributing to the development and exploitation of marketing activities and product development initiatives to increase penetration of existing customers and/or expand the business mix. Including travel around the Asia region as necessary.
• Proactively identifying and pursuing up-selling (add-ons) and cross-selling opportunities to maximise profitable revenue potential from new and renewal business and achieve agreed business targets.
• Managing customer interactions in an efficient, courteous and timely manner in order to deliver high standard of customer satisfaction.
• Providing expert advice, guidance and coaching to less qualified and/or experienced colleagues to address technical referrals and raising standards and expertise across the technical community.
• Ensuring underwriting files are correct and accurate in accordance with internal guidelines.

• 5 or more years of property underwriting experience in large and complex risks.
• Experience in global accounts underwriting will be an advantage.
• Good network of contacts with brokers and cedants.
• Ability to contribute technically to the development of juniors, and our growing portfolio.
• Strong interpersonal skills for use both internally and externally.
• Industry Professional Qualifications is an advantage
