Industry development is vital to Singapore's continued success because it drives economic growth, creates job opportunities and ensures that Singapore remains competitive. The successful candidate will play a critical role in identifying and building emerging industries for Singapore. Some previous emerging industries we have identified include those in the areas of Sustainability, Biotechnology, AI/Metaverse and Advanced Manufacturing. The successful candidate is excited about conducting in-depth research and developing plans to incubate these industries. You will have the opportunity to contribute to Singapore's economic development and play a vital role in shaping our future.

What you will be working on:

You will be part of an energetic team responsible for identifying and building emerging industries in Singapore. The job scope involves: Conducting regular horizon scanning on new and emerging trends and technologies to assess the economic opportunities for Singapore; Conducting in-depth analysis to understand opportunities and risks in specific markets, including assessing market size and supply chain segments; Working closely with other economic agencies to develop actionable strategies to grow emerging industries in the medium-to-long term; Engaging with industry players and global thought leaders to understand the latest trends, challenges ,and opportunities; and Developing and constantly improving on the processes, tools and methodologies used to identify emerging industries.

What we are looking for:

You should have: Preferably at least 2 years of relevant work experience in either the public or private sector Interest in emerging industries/technologies Clarity of thought Keen business acumen with strong analytical skills Aptitude for market and technology research High data and numerical literacy to support robust analysis Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and spoken The ability to build strong relations with internal and external stakeholders A self-starter mindset, exemplified by high initiative and resourcefulness to solve new problems The ability to develop and execute ideas and initiatives where there may be no precedent Good leadership and project management skills
