Depending on the scale and requirements of each project, activities can range from pre-sales support, requirement gathering, solution design, development, validation, deployment, integration to support & maintenance.

Responsibilities:

The Solution Engineering Manager is responsible for an Automated Border Control (ABC) system and or other systems along its lifecycle:

  • Define the software development cycle in consistency with that of upper/same level elements (dependences, co-engineering activities).
  • Tailor the software engineering environment (process, practices and tools) as required.
  • Lead and monitor the software engineering activities and schedule.
  • Participate in the specification of the functions and interfaces of products to be developed.
  • Participate in the definition of the architecture, and the allocation of functions, to the components for which they have primary responsibility.
  • Analyse customer requirements and understand the related work packages.
  • Lead the technical discussion and presentation with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Design, code, unit test and debug applications.
  • Provide technical guidance and help to software team members.
  • Ensure all work adheres to Thales software development methodologies and processes.
  • Coordinate with other teams within the product/project engineering team.
  • Apply process at solution level and organize SOR (Solution Orientation Review), SRR/ SFR (Solution Requirement/Functional Review), PDR/CDR (Preliminary/ Critical Design Review) and FQR (Final Qualification Review)
  • Ensure that security activities implementation is correctly applied on project solution level according to Thales security assurance plan.
  • Ensure configuration management activities on the project are followed as described in generic CMP. For any differences requested by project context, you need to ensure an appropriate project CMP is written and followed
  • As part of the project, provide:
  • Work Breakdown Structure/OBS/RAM(RACI)/Schedule
  • Signed Work Package Description
  • SEMP (Solution Engineering Management Plan)
  • Development Strategy
  • Traceability Matrix
  • Engineering Dashboards
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Electronics Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum 8 years of hands-on software development experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as Software Engineering Manager or Technical Lead
  • Experience in software development methodologies
  • Experience in developing real-time web applications
  • Experience in building and integrating large-scale software systems
  • Involvement in complete software development life cycle of at least one project
  • Strong knowledge in software/web architectures and design patterns
  • Strong experience in at least one software/web development language
  • Experience with software and web engineering tools
  • Experience with continuous integration (e.g. Jenkins, Circle CI) and code management repository tools
  • Strong technical leadership and collaboration skills
  • Good technical writing and presentation skills
  • Project management competence below will be an added advantage
  • PMI/IPMA standards
  • Thales internal processes : Design Develop Qualify Solutions(DDQS)
  • Crisis management
  • Pre-sales skills, solution selling
  • Contract Management
  • Basic knowledge in: cryptography, smartcard, personalization solutions is an advantage
  • Good communication skills - fluent in English and knowledge of other regional languages (Asian) is appreciated
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Team player, customer oriented
  • Good time-management skills
  • Mobile for overseas travelling
